Seeking Homeopathic Doctor for Children

My 8 yr. old daughter has been diagnosed with CVS (Cyclic Vomitting Syndrom) where she has vomitting episodes every few weeks lasting about 8 hours each time. They think they are linked to migraines and tend to treat it with daily antihistimines, anit-depressants, or meds like Zofran (given to chemo patients). I really would like to see if there is natural alternatives. Does anyone know of a doctor in the area (I live in Rowlett) that is more inclined to natural healing that would see a child?

What can I do next?

Dr. Daniel Chartrand is great. He has never steered us wrong. He will offer/prescribe what you need and it may be homoepathic or traditional. He judges each case individually. www.harmonyfamilyhealth.com

Hi L.,

I would agree with trying a chiropractor. Children respond very well to Chiropractic care. I am a Chiropractor and I work with children on a daily basis. I believe in total wellness from the inside out. If I was treating someone with your daughters condition, I would perform allergy testing - to determine if a food or environmental allergy were causing the migraines, I would do nutritional counseling which would involve supplementation with vitamins or homeopathic remedies to correct the condition and to help allieviate your daughters suffering, and I would adjust the child. When the top vertebrae in the neck is out of aligment it can cause migraines, ear infections, learning disabilities, etc. By treating the cause of the migraines, and eliminating them, it can help allieviate the vomitting. Also, there are areas of the spine that correlate with the digestive tract. If there is interference of the nerve in that are it can result in digestive disturbances such as reflux or vomitting. My daughter is 4 1/2 and I have treated her since she was a newborn. She is very healthy and has never been on antibiotics. If you have any questions or would like more information, please don't hesitate to call me at ###-###-#### or visit my website at sullivanchiropractic.com. I have a location in Plano and in Mesquite. Thanks! Dr. Sandra S.

I don't have any doctor suggestions for you.i do think though that you ought to just go with the doctor that you are currently using. The Zofran is a very safe and effective medication. In addition to being given to chemo patients, it is also given to pregnant women who experience extreme nausea and vometing during pregnancy. I personally took it for 6 months of my pregnancy and it worked like a charm. It does not cause fatigue or any other side effectsat all for most people. It is a fantastic medication. I can understand that you do not want to medicate your child if it is not necessary, but to me it sounds like it is necessary and the best option. I think you probably ought to go for the Zofran that has been proven to be safe and know that it will work. I think that often times we use our kids as sciene experiements to try to be natural, but truthfully the vometting is probably more dangerous than any medication the doctor prescribes. Vometting that frequently can cause damage to the esophagus and teeth. Not to mention that your daughter is going to be miserable if she keeps vometting. I think that you probably would be most successful in helping your daughter if you gave her the medicines. Stick with the Zofran, it really got me through my pregnancy.

L.,

Have you tried chiropractic? I see children all the time as young as 2 hours old. An 8 year old shouldn't be having headaches (much less an adult). I am an upper cervical specialist that uses the Grostic technique. If you want to research more about it, there is a patient-run website called www.upcspine.com to get more info. It's safe, gentle and most of all it works with your daughter's body instead of against it like the dangerous medications out there that work only to mask the symptoms. My office is in Plano, just 5 mins North on Coit off of 190. If you would like to set up a consult just call my office at ###-###-####. I don't know of an upper cervical specialist closer in your area. Unfortunately, there are very few of us around. (Be sure to let my assistant know that you contacted my through mamasource and you'll receive her first visit including a consultation, comprehensive exam and history and any necessary films for $45.)

I was going to say Dr. Chartrand too--I think he is in Allen. I have also heard that Dr. Bain in Frisco is good too. And I would highly recommend chiropractic.

i recently read that migranes can be caused by a lack of water, rest, proper diet, exercise. try eliminating bad foods ie sweets, caffiene, pork/beef products, fast foods... indulge in more fresh fruit/vegetables/water/green tea... get outside on sunny days for a bit to get the "sun" vitamins, open up the house on sunny days to get fresh air circulating... eliminate using dryer sheets or purfume type products for washing/drying clothes. these things have helped me eliminate migranes... good luck.

The doctor that my daughters and I have gone to for years is Dr. John Gonino. ###-###-#### They just moved out of Rowlett into Heath, and we haven't had to go to the doctor so I'm not sure if their number has changed. His philosophy is to get each person well from the inside out. the most impressive part to me was that 9ys. ago when I started to go to him he said his goal was to get me healthy so that he didn't have to see me in his office! How many doctors do you hear that from? Tell him that R. Kuipers referred you to his office and he will know you are serious about getting your family well. He will listen to your past experiences and help you step by step. He will NOT just throw meds your way.
Sorry your daughter is ill.

Dr. Bessie Owens is in Rowlett and I took my 6 week old to her when my pediatrician prescribed her antibiotics and she broke out in hives. Dr. Owens is homeopathic and does not believe in immunizations. She was really awesome and put my baby on fish oil-it cleared her up right away. If that link doesn't work just google her name and type Rowlett in the box.
Hope this helps .

Gonino Family For Healing - they see children and are located in Rockwall. I don't go there; however, I do know that they seek alternative healing solutions. Good luck.
