Seeking Hair Stylist for Wavy Hair

I am so sick of my hair-- I needed a cut months ago, problem is- I have weird waves (not really curly, definitely not straight) I really don't want to go to a hair stylist who is going to make me blow dry my hair straight every time I shower (who has time for that?!?!) Hoping not to spend more than $40 -- willing to drive to Niles/Park Ridge/Skokie areas or NW side of Chicago. THANKS!!!

I have the same hair - not really curly but definitely not straight. All those that tell you about Curly hair tips/products do not do not have this kind of hair -- curly hair products/tips do not work - you just need a good cut.

I have been using Noel, an owner at Salon Aqua on Devon in Edgebrook(just east of Central, across from the library) and have been really pleased with how my hair looks for the first time in years.

And after many many years of experimenting, I finally found a solution to let my hair air dry and not look completely frizzy/unkept: a smoothing cream mixed with a curl defining gel - I go about 60 / 40. If I want to look polished, I still need to at least partially blow dry, but with this product mix I can at least have "Saturday" hair without looking like I just rolled out of bed.

good luck.

if you are still using shampoo every day then that would be the first thing I would recomend you change. there is a great book for Curly Girls called the Curly Girl handbook. lots of great info on care and treatment of wavy to super curly hair. but losing the shampoo is the first thing.

good luck

I have curly hair and have also had difficulty finding a stylist who doesn't want me to spend all my free time in front of the mirror with a straightening iron. (I have two kids who I have to get ready for school before I go to work, so that's not going to happen. Besides, I love my hair.) Anyway, I have found better haircutters for this situation at Cost Cutters than at any pricey salon.

I have the same type of hair- try Changes Salon, 514 Higgins, Park ridge, IL (on Higgins just 1 1/2 blocks east of Cumberland) - ask for Jessica, she's awesome!
Good luck!

I really like Rebecca at Amy G Salon in Evanston, right on central street off of Green Bay. She really knows what she's doing, and she is so sweet too!
