I recently moved to Cincinnati and am expecting my first child in September.
I'm looking for a good pediatrician in the area that has evening and/or weekend hours - as well as being accesible via phone for questions.

What can I do next?

if it's feasible from where you are located, look into Northeast Cincinnati Pediatrics. it is a larger practice, but i've had a great experience with both of my sons -- you get to speak to actual people when you call & there are quick responses to questions / need for appts. etc.

We really like Dr. N. and Dr. Stein at Hyde Park Pediatrics. We called them a lot the first few months and they always returned our call within a couple hours.

A. - Like Julie G., I used Dr. Manfroy from NE Pediatrics. They have several locations and they have evening hours. I really like them. The doctors are laid back and very nice. I haven't had a bad experience with any of them. GOOD LUCK!!!

I absolutely love my practice; evening and weekend availability, It is a practice of at least 7 doctors, all wonderful, many nurses, etc. Many people I know use this practice:

Springdale/Mason Pediatrics ###-###-####
Two offices, one off 75 and one off 71, both 'northern' suburbs:
11360 Springfield Pike
7450 Mason Montgomery Road

We go to Queen City Physicians. OUr primary doc there is Joseph Bailey and he is fantastic. Actually there are about 6 docs in the practice and over the years we've probably seen them all and they are all great. They only take first time moms so you would be in luck there since this is your first. The nurses there are great too, always there to help with a simple question or concern! They have offices in Western Hills and in Harrison. Good luck in your search.

Hi A.,

We see Dr. Nancy Bagamerry at Hyde Park Associates. There are 4 other doctors in the practice and the ones we've seen we've liked. In addition they are affiliated with Children's hospital so in case your child is admitted there your pediatrician is still your child's doctor. They see healthy babies in the morning and sick visits are for afternoons to minimize the spreading of illnesses. They've always gotten back to me in a timely fashion after hours and I'm very comfortable with the practice.

Hope this helps.

Personally I like the Pediatric Primary Care center of Children's Hospital. We see Dr. Katherine Young, who is awesome.

They are open weekends, and ALWAYS have a nurse on call you can talk to for free if you have problems. The best part is that it's located in the hospital, so if you ever need a referral you don't have to go far!

Good luck :)

I'm not sure if you're looking for a particular part of town, but my kids (4 yrs & 2 yrs) see Dr. Theresa Yost. She is with Pediatric Associates of Cincinnati on Malsbary Rd. in the Blue Ash area.
I really like Dr. Yost and the kids are comfortable w/ her as well. The office is only open until 5 pm Mon-Fri, but they do have Saturday morning hours. If the kids have an illness, I've never had a problem getting them in the same day. I've called numerous times with questions and requested that a nurse call me back. This has always been very timely and helpful. I've even avoided a few office visits because I was able to talk to a nurse about my child's symptoms. I have also had to call the on-call doctor after hours a couple of times, and likewise, got a very timely response.

If you are close to the Anderson area at all, I also have to recommend Dr. Jonathan Mumma who is with GHA...he is WONDERFUL! My children 4, 2, 5 days all go to him. We've been with him since we moved here just over two years ago. He is very thorough, personable, great with the kids and is always willing to discuss any concerns with you. I've also never waited long to see him...they're a very prompt practice. They also have nurses available to answer any questions you may have. Good luck and hope this helps.

We go to Liberty-Sharonville Pediatrics. Our primary dr. is Dr. Fernandez. There are 3 dr.s there and we have seen and LOVE them all! The nurses are awesome too!!! They have an office in Liberty Township (off of Cincinnati-Dayton Rd.) and one is Sharonville, right past Sharon Woods. They are always very good about getting you right in or calling back to answer your question.

I also came across this while doing a search. Its a bunch of dr.s that were recommended and some reviews about them.

I don't know what area you are in, but we go to Dr. Hickey who is with Group Health Associates in Anderson. We have been very happy with him. They have been great with answering questions and calling us back. They have been able to fit us in same day, when our son has been sick. I am not sure of their hours but we have had appointments as late as 6:50pm. There have been a couple of times that we have seen Dr. Mumma, when our pediatrian was unavailable. He is good also and has evening hours also.

Group Health has offices throughout Cincinnati, so there should be one fairly close to you.

I like our Family Practice doctors. We go to Western Family Practice which is on the Mercy Mt Airy hospital campus. The phone number is ###-###-####.

They are very supportive of breastfeeding. They are also not pushy about vaccines which is important for us, since we don't do them.

If you are going to be in the Anderson or Mt. Washington area Dr. Mumma at Group Health Associates is wonderful. I know that one day a week he works late, and they are always able to answer my calls or call me back. He is younger so not retiring any time soon, has young children himself, and is extremely thorough. Good luck in your move!

Depending on where you live, my kids see Dr. Karin Wetzler with Group Health Associates in Kenwood. I really like her a lot as do the kids! Due to moving, we've had a few pediatricians and I like and trust Dr. Wetzler the most.

There are three other pediatricians in the practice who are all nice, but I like Dr. Wetzler the best. They are open until 8:00pm Mon-Thurs, 5:00 on Fridays, and are open 8:30-12:30 on Saturdays. They've also been good about getting back to me with questions I have. If you NEED to be seen, they will fit you in.

Another thing I really like is that there are multiple specialties at this one location. When my young daughter had pneumonia and needed xrays of her chest, all we had to do was go down to the first floor to get them. No running all over the place. By the way, Group Health Associates has offices all over Cincinnati. The only one I've been to is the one in Kenwood.

If you are on the east side of Cincinnati, I would check out Pediatric Associates of Mt. Carmel. They have an office in Eastgate, one in Batavia, and another in Loveland. They have many docs but encourage you to settle in with the couple that you prefer. Of course if there is a problem, you can see anyone. My kids both LOVE Dr. Kroeger. He has 6 kids of his own and has a great way of interacting with the kids...he is wonderful. They also have evening and weekend hours as well as a nurse who can take calls and answer questions.

I suspect that every mom on here will tell you that she has the best pediatrician. If I didn't think mine was the best, I would switch, wouldn't you?

Saying that, I do beleive that mine is the best! His name is Dr Nofziger and his office is right on the edge of Downtown, where we live. He always spends as much time with us as we need and is just awesome with my son, who will be 1 year old next week. He's gentle, kind, funny, and just a joy. He's been my son's doctor since he was born. The staff is wonderful and he does have appointments on Saturdays and have always taken my calls, or called me back within a couple of hours when I had questions. The practice name is Shalom Pediatrics, in case you can't find it using his name.
