A.,

We went camping last year up near Ione, WA on Lake Sullivan. I can't remember the actual name of the campground but I'm sure if you google camping at Lake Sullivan you should be able to find it. There was a couple different camp sites ;(North, South and East campgrounds) There is obviously the lake that you can go swimming and fishing at and they have a couple different hiking trails that go all the way around the lake and some biking trails as well. The campgrounds are decently spaced, better than a lot of campgrounds I have been too. This is also a woodsy area, not like the park-like campgrounds with grass and stuff. These ones are dirt, pine needles and more dirt :) Hope that helps a little.

I've always been a fan of the campgrounds up at Priest Lake. Have you gone to Hills Resort before? Ive been in the cabins and the tent areas and both seem pretty private and surrounded by trees so you dont really know you have neighbors except noise sometimes. They have a play area, kyaking, a store, swimming, boating, ect.

Theres also places like Deer Lake Resort, the tent sites are close if they are full but if they're not full they space them pretty far apart to give you privacy. They have a play area, swimming, boating, paddle boats, a store, and craft centers.
Theres also Indian Creek and Lionshead but they are set up pretty close together and dont have many amenities.

Hills Resort, Indian Creek, and Lionshead are all in priest lake Idaho. 1 1/2 -2 hours to idaho from spokane then 1-2 hours to the campsites depending on which one you want to go to. (hills is closest and lionshead furthest) Deer Lake Resort is in washington about
1- 1 1/2 hours away from spokane

check out www.priestlake.org there you can see ALL the campgrounds and maps and there is a link at the bottom of the page to look at resorts as well.

and www.deerlakeresort.com to get all the info about that one
Hope this helps :) Have fun camping wherever you choose to go!

Hi A.. We've camped quite a bit around the area and our favorite is a campground called Mill Pond, although I think driving time is about 2 to 2 1/2 hours. It's just down the road from Lake Sullivan. It is NEVER crowded if you get there early enough on a Friday--even on Labor Day weekend. There are only 10 campsites. Sorry, no showers or normal toilets either. People drive by heading to Sullivan campgrounds and completely miss it. It is heavily treed and you don't have to see your "neighbors" if you don't want to. Lake Sullivan is just 5 minutes (or less) away. This campground is on a river that flows into Mill Pond, which is very secluded and has lots of rocky beach to run around on. We've taken our little raft down this river. There is fishing and hiking around Mill Pond, and once you've conquered that you can drive over to Lake Sullivan to bike/hike/swim/boat. I think Lake Sullivan gets too packed and busy. Not as private.

You can go to http://www.hikercentral.com/campgrounds/113087.html to see Lake Sullivan campsites. If you look at the map, you can see Mill Pond just north of Lake Sullivan on Sullivan Lake Rd. It's not even labelled.

Best of luck to ya! Happy Camping!
