Seeking Amerigroup-Medicaid OBGYN in Dallas Area for Natural Birth

K., please talk to a midwife before you rule midwifery care out completely. I thought the same for my first pregnancy - that was before Iearned that hospitals are for sick people:)

I see that AZneomom recommended a local ICAN chapter - since I don't see one in Dallas, here is the Austin contact. Reach out to her and get names and suggestions. Most women in the U.S. consider a natural birth to be with an epidural (what most of us would call a vaginal birth) so by contacting ICAN you will at least be speaking the same language.

Once you have a list of doctors that accept your insurance, use Angie's List or vitals.com or healthgrades.com to search out reviews for the doctors or midwives.

I would recommend contacting local midwives and/or doulas and asking for names of natural birth-friendly OBs. Ask several people, see which names keep popping up. Also local Bradley instructors or ICAN chapters, they often have a good picture of providers who support natural birth.

I'm not sure about Texas, but in Washington we have CNMs certified nurse midwives that do hospital births!
