Seeking Aggressive Pediatrician (South Bay)

I would like to find an aggressive pediatrician that would question or be concern about my childs developmental delays.

What can I do next?

Try Long Beach Memorial Medical Centers Stramski Developmental Center. Dr. Kanijou (don't know if that is spelled right) is very aggressive. She is the only person that got the school district to finally pay attention to our sons severe learning disabilities. She works with a variety of different developmental issues. Not sure of the number to the center itself, but the number to LBMMC is ###-###-#### and they can give you the number. They are in Long Beach, so its not too far from you. We did try Harbor Regional in Torrance, but his "delays" were not severe enough for them. They are another good source though that you can try. Good luck!

Our pediatrician is great. She is very open to any concerns and definitely listens. I always come in with a ton of questions about everything from vaccines to milestones and she is great about listening and addressing my concerns. The staff and other doctors are also great - the nurses are always available to answer questions and they always squeeze me in for appointments on short notice.

Have you contacted the Harbor regional center in Torrance to have your children assessed?? You don't need a referral from anyone, you can make the call yourself 888-540-1711. You may be screened over the phone and if sounds like a real issue then your child will receive a developmental evaluation.
good luck

hi A.,
i have 5 children ages 2-1/2 to 11yrs. all my 5 little ones love Dr. Linda Brown; Health Care Partners, in TORRANCE. She has always been so attentive to my children, even out of the office; making personal phone calls and visits to the hospital. We have had concerns with our children where she has given extra attention to. Fortunately, our concerns have turned out to be mild little things but Linda has always pursued our concerns with great care. for us, it is wonderful to see a dr. interested in her patients because she cares and not because she is or is not getting paid.

Hi A.,
I am the mother of 9 year old twin girls. One was considered special needs ( but no longer). Judith Hunter at Healthcare Partners in Torrance is my pediatrician.Don't let her laid back demeanor fool you. She has tremendous follow-up and communication skills and is very assertive. I will spare you all of the roller coaster ride details we have had with our one daughter...specialists that we sought out ( when Dr, Hunter said we didn't need to) proved to mis- diagnos her.Dr. Hunter was right every single time. My neice also a mother of twins has had similar postive experiences with Dr. Hunter.

I don't have a child with any special needs but my peditrician asks a million questions and is very thorough. I have had several friends who also highly recommend them. Both of my children have had medical emergencies, one a small burn, but the peditrician called me back immediately on the weekend and also met us at a different hospital to care for the children. Then called me daily to followup on the incident.
His name is Dr. Kaplan. He is in Los Alamitos and his number is ###-###-####. He is actually in a group and every doctor is wonderful.
