Seeking Activities for Boys

Our family has moved to Spring in January from Florida and I am searching for things for my 4 year old to do. He loves the outdoors- even when it is cold outside! I have looked into soccer and t-ball but they only last 4-6 weeks. In Florida sports ran for 3 months. Is 4-6 weeks the average here? My other son is 13 and involved in band. He is looking to volunteer on the weekends. Any ideas?
Thank you for your help.

I am from Florida too. (Tampa) although, I did not have kids there. I'm not sure about the soccer thing, but a few things we do just for fun : Shankz-it is on 242 just West of 45 in the Woodlands. It is a glow in the dark mini put-put golf. My son loves it. The Woodlands Mall also had the Museum of Natural Science. Lots of Dinosaurs. It is worth the membership if you go alot.
good luck,
p

I have a 3 year old son and I can definitely relate to your situation. I've had to get really creative and mix things up a bit. What I do to keep things interesting is I visit the following parks: Every week we visit somewhere different.
Meyer Park (Cypresswood)You can bring some bread and feed the ducks here
Burroughs Park (N. Kukyendahl)
Mercer Park(Aldine West./Baldwin Boetcher Library)
North Shore Park( The Woodlands)
Sawmill Park (The Woodlands)

Some other alternatives:

The local libraries all have daily activites for children in most age groups: storytelling, arts & crafts ect. To find out scheduling and location info: www.hcpl.net

If you don't mind the drive, the Houston Zoo is a phenominal place! We have season passes and it is well worth the trip.

Goodluck!

The best thing for boys to do in the Spring are is to take them to KARATE MASTERS on 2920 by Neals. Your son would love the Little Dragons class! Some Girls love it too! They are a wonderful family facility.

The Woodlands Mall has indoor playground for children and Museum of Science. The Woodlands has numerous parks and recreation areas through out the area. The area you live in should have soccer, and T-ball I think you should check into the neighborhood association for information or the neighbors.

I have 4 girls (10,9,4, and 2). We are involved in (S.A.Y.S) Spring Area Youth Softball. Check www.eteamz.com/says. This is off of Louetta and I-45. The season has not started, but maybe you can do the late registration. Season starts on Feb. 23 and will last until I believe April. We have not gotten the game schedule yet, so I don't exactly know the ending date. Also, check your local YMCA. They have revolving sports to get into that will last I believe 4-8 weeks. Good luck in your search.

I am also in Spring...I have two daughters ages 3.5yr and 5yr - we have our girls on a TGSA softball team (Tomball Girls Softball Association). It has girls and boys and is at Burrough Park off Kuykendahl and Huffsmith/Kohrville. You can goto their website www.eteamz.com/tgsa - the website does say that registration is now closed but you never know. Practices just started this past week so you may want to give it a try. It goes through May. Also, you can check out the YMCA, I have not been there but it would be an option. Our sports will rum about the same as Florida since we have the same weather. It may just be that the places you have talked to have different seasons. Anyway, good luck.
