My 3 y.o. son has a couple of cavities. I am looking for a pediatric dentist in Downers Grove, Bolingbrook, Woodridge, Naperville area. I would prefer someone who utilizes non-sedating, least toxic options (i.e., doesn't recommend general anesthesia as first option/optimal approach). I would greatly appreciate any referrals. Thanks!

What can I do next?

We use Grove Dental (www.grovedental.com). They have pediatric dentists. I cannot say how they deal with children's cavities, but I do know that my daughter loves going there and never complains.

Best of luck!

I take my son to Grove Dental in Downers Grove and are very happy with them. He had 4 fillings last year at age 3 and did very well. They used laughing gas to "relax" him. He liked that he got to pick out the scent of the nose thing to breathe into and didn't resist going back for the three visits it took to get them taken care of. He didn't seem out of it at all with the gas but didn't even cry (and he's a pretty sensitive kid). The sound of the drill scared him but he said it didn't hurt. The dentist (Dr. Cabana)told him to raise his hand if he wanted him to stop working in his mouth, and was patient when my son did just that several times. The front desk ladies aren't especially friendly, but the assistants and dentist were great.

Dr. Risty in Plainfield - Millennium Family Dental - he's not pediactric specialist, but is AWESOME with the kids.

Zorana,

Although I haven't had any personal experience dealing with cavities, I did take my 22-month old son for his first dentist visit (just to make sure everything was OK) when he was around a year old. We saw Dr. Mark Cabana, a pediatric dentist, from Grove Dental in Downers Grove. He was very gentle when examining my son and willing to answer all my questions. I was happy with the care my son received and we will be going back in February for our 2-yr. check-up.
