I am taking a day trip to Sedona with my 6 1/2 year old daughter. Does anyone have any suggestions of things to do or see without spending a lot of money ? I am not interested in doing the jeep tours, helicoptor tours, etc. Just really want us to be able to do our own thing, but the only thing I know of to do up there is the Trout Farm. Any suggestions are appreciated. THANKS !

What can I do next?

We go to Sedona a lot and just hike around. Get a good hiking trail map at a gift shop when you get there or go to the chamber of commerce (located right on the main street) and ask them...they will give you a lot of fun ideas. We love to shop around the stores and the mexican restaurant Oaxoca (sp?) is really good. Sit on the rooftop dining and you will have beautiful views....the margaritas are yummy too :) If you want to take a pretty drive, go up through the canyon. There is also a road we like to adventure on called Shnebbly Hill Road. We found it when we did an expensive jeep tour years ago and I couldn't believe I paid that much for something we could do in our own car. Have fun!!

I imagine a 6 1/2 yr old might be happily distracted just by walking thru Tlaquapaque Shopping Center. There are some city park areas where you can just relax and enjoy the scenery. Go on line to Sedons's web site and look at a map for more ideas.

If she can enjoy even a few paintings, visit one or two galleries.

Good Luck, and enjoy!

slide rock. probably kind of chilly this time of year to go in the stream, but maybe not.

If your drive up a little past downtown Sedona, you can go to Oak Creek which is fun, also just walking around the shops and you have to go eat at Black Cow, they have the best ice cream. There is also a diner that is UFO themed, if your interested let me know and I can find the exact lacation for you (instead of making a right to go to downtown you make a left and go down for about 6-10 miles it is on the left side). Have fun.

The hike to Cathedral Rock is level, beautiful and not to terribly long. There is a parking lot that requires a fee but it's not huge. Check the redrock state park website for more details. I want to go back with my 2 & 3 yr olds.
