Salty or Sweet When Trying to Conceive a Girl?

Someone recently told me she'd heard that if you eat salty/sweet foods while trying to conceive, your likelihood of having a girl increases. I just can't remember whether she said it was salty for a girl and sweet for a boy or vice versa. Anybody know? Your help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!! Let me add that we will not at all be disappointed no matter what the gender of the baby is. I keep getting replies from people who assume that I really, really want a girl. The fact is, we don't particularly care what the gender is. Girls are just rare on my fiance's side of the family and because we want 4 children, we feel we may regret it if we don't at least try for one of the 4 to be a girl. That way, even if we end up with all boys we can at least say we tried. So yes, we would be happy no matter what the gender is.

What can I do next?

Hi A.,
Are you tracking your cycles? Eileen's advice below is right on, and will give you a much better chance of achieving a girl than sweet (or is is salty?) foods will. Hubby and I "tried" ON the day I ovulated, and both times we had boys. Don't think we will be trying again any time soon, but if we do, DH wants his Daddy's little girl, so we will likely go the other route and "try" a few days before I ovulate. Good Luck!

Oh boy, if it were this easy to "pick" the gender of our babies, don't you think we'd be over-populated with only the preferred gender? When I was pregnant with my first daughter, EVEYRONE was convinced she was a boy...because of how I was carrying. Surprise, surprise...they were all wrong. The X and Y chromosomes from you and your husband come together and determine if the baby will be a boy or girl. Don't fret over what foods you should or should not eat. God will make sure you get what you need...not what you want.

Your best chance at conceiving a particular sex is the chinese lunar calendar. However, cant you just make love and be happy with what you get. Are we human's getting so analytical about everything we can't even make love to our husbands to make a baby and not order it up like a hamburger.

hey, i don't know about the salty sweet thing, but have you ever heard of the chinese birth chart. it's awesome. between my husbands and my family we have 11 children and according to the birth chart they were all right. here's how it works, you go by your age and the month conceived and then it can tell you what you are going to have. it's pretty cool. hope this helps.

I don't know about sweet or salty but I heard making your body more alkaline helps. Eating more fresh veggies, almonds, walnuts, and eating less meat, alcohol, dairy and white bread.

Please understand that there is no concrete way to influence the of a child--this is determined by the father. If he passes an "X" chromosome, you will definitely have a . Otherwise, you have a fifty-fifty chance. So what should you do? Eat somthing salty AND sweet and enjoy trying. Then, be thankful for whoever you conceive.

There was another post that said having sex on or closest to your ovulation date will probably mean a boy... a few days before will mean a girl... it was true for us! Girl, then boy. I timed it very carefully with our second... or first wasn't "on the date".
If you google ovulation calendar/conception chart, sex preference you might be able to hit on the calendar I used. (Sorry, can't remember the site.)
I wish you all the best. I am totally in love with my little girl (3) and my little man (1). I feel so blessed to have the experience of raising one of each.
