REPOST - Ideas for Teacher Appreciation
I think there was something wrong with my original request today, in that it did not allow responses. Wanted to repost my question 'cuz I really need help!:
Calling all creative moms and educators...I was recently put in charge of coordinating Teacher Appreciation Week for my 4 year old's class. There are a total of five "teachers" that interact with the class (lead teacher, assistants, speech therapist, etc), and I want to be sure that they each feel appreciated. My thought is to have a "Queen for a Day" theme, and honor one of the five teachers each of the five days in Teacher Appreciation Week. I need guidance on good gift ideas, ways to solicit parent support, etc, and I need it fast! I was just asked a couple of days ago to lead this effort, and I believe the Appreciation week is May 7th - May 11th. Doesn't leave me a lot of time to decide on a direction, contact the parents, put gift baskets together, and so on. Any ideas are much appreciated!!

For my DS teachers.. I filled a flower pot with all sorts of gardening things (seeds, gloves, tools etc) and wrote on the sides Thank you for helping me grow. I am including a picture of my son, but it would be a great idea to get a class picture and put in there.
Good luck!

Queen for the day is excellent place to start but you need to find out what each teacher uses daily and try to include that in your baskets also see if any parents are willing to donate cash for gift certificates for your local day spa to go along with your queen theme.

As a current teacher myself, I can tell you we love gift certificates. We get so much of the little nick nack stuff, candles, lotions, and classroom supplies. I agree, I would call parents on the phone and ask them if they would be willing to contribute a specific amount so that the class can reach a certain goal to be able to give each teacher. Also having parents bring homemade desserts, breakfast items, or ect. is a great idea. We also LOVE to eat!! Good luck. They will appreciate anything that you do. Just knowing that you are important and valued is more than anything than you can give them!!

Hi,
Big task for you:-) I found its easier to just call the parents because they are less likely to say no when they are actually talking to you lol. Good gift ideas are things that they would use in the classroom that they usually spend their own money on. I made a basket like that for my daughter's teacher and she just couldnt tell me enough how much she appreciated it and how much money it saved her. The queen for the day is an awesome thought. I may need to keep that in mind. Keep us posted as to how it goes.
