Hi J.! Congratulations on your first baby. I live in Ahwatukee and I use Dr. Miller at TLC pediatrics. They are actually right where you live. They are located at Frye and Chandler Blvd. They are the most wonderful practice! I like ALL of the doctors and Dr. Matsomoto (I most likely spelled that wrong) has been recognized with many awards. Dr. Miller is so sweet and she not only takes care of the babies, she is compassionate and nurturing to the moms too. They have a sick waiting room and well waiting room and they are really good about getting you in the same day if you call in the morning with a sick child. The nurses are really nice, but the receptionist staff can be moody at times (I think this would be typical in any pediatrician's office though) My youngest daughter was in the hospital at 2 weeks old with RSV and all of the doctors in the practice really helped our family through the stressful time. I visited Dr. Miller when I was pregnant to get established with the practice. I mostly wanted to make sure I connected with her. She is used to seeing pregnant moms and does quite a few initial consultations. I don't think there are any set questions to ask, just whatever is on your mind. You may be interested in asking about philosophies on vaccinations, how aggressive they are with giving kids medications etc... I found that I didn't really know which questions I wanted to ask until I actually had the baby and spent more time at the doctor.
Are you a stay-at-home mom? I have 2 girls, but my youngest is only 4 months old. Even though your baby will be younger if you ever want to meet for a play date let me know. I have scheduled a bunch through October and will plan more for this winter. If you would like to meet for coffee or bagels prior to your birth I can answer any questions you have about TLC pediatrics or babies in general. I'm always looking to meet new women in the community.
Best of luck to you, enjoy your last trimester!
J.
