My 2 year old son has a rash on his legs and tummy and a little on his face. I took him to his doctors two times already. He just said to put some cream on it. I am taking him to a dermatologist today. I was wandering if anyone knows anything about rashes? He has bumps and they get big and red and then they go down. Thank you.
Sue

Sounds like your doctor isn't up on the communication & education part of practicing. Like informing your patients what the heck is going on.

I can think of 50 things it MIGHT be, so good on you for heading to a dermatologist. Although, I hate to say it, but if you've gotten two scripts and you don't know what they're for, or what they're supposed to treat...I'd say it's time to start looking for a new ped.

Hi Sue Rashes can become welts from scratching itching rashes, welts are more raise on the skin than a rash, and it's not a silly question. It's good that you are taking him to A demmatologist, cause it can me an allergic reaction from, anything from soap, bug bite, it could be anything at that age. I pray your little guy will be fine. sounds like hives to me. he maybe allergic to something he is in contact with. my daughter broke out in hives when we took her to the creek. we still dont know what made her break out and that was the only time she has ever gotten hives at the creek or ever lol. what we do with her allergies is when they flare up i give her 1/2 tspn of childrens benadryl (her dr okayed this). if you are okay with trying this i would start out with like 1/3 of a tspn because it will make him drowsy too. good luck.

Is it rashy or more like welts? if welts and they come and go...sometimes crying makes them pop out more, then he has had a reaction like hives to something and it will take time to go away.my son had this when he got into a bag of oranges and ate quite a few before I discovered him......otherwise a trip to derma sounds like your next step. good luck
