Hi. I have been drinking 2 Slim Fasts a day, one for breakfast and one for lunch then eating what ever I want for dinner since mid summer. I have lost over 10 lbs. I am getting sick of the shakes, I feel like they aren't very nutritious. Does anyone have a smoothie recipe or protein shake recipe that I could use in place of a meal so can quit drinking these shakes and still loose weight.
Thanks.

Take about a cup or so of skim or 1% milk, a couple handfuls of frozen or diced fresh fruit, some non-fat greek yogurt or non-fat regular yogurt (or a scoop of protein powder), a dash of sweetener to taste and blend.

I personally don't drink cows milk and use almond milk for almost everything.

I ground 2-3 TBSP of flaxseeds fresh for fiber and Omega 3. 8 oz or so of almond milk or juice. Then just throw in whatever I have or in the mood for. Fresh/frozen berries-fruit. If you use frozen, it is more like a smoothie. Sometimes a handful of fresh spinach (you can't taste it).

I prefer Carnation Instant Breakfast to Slim Fast. Although it's not technically a diet shake, it's a yummy and fulfilling breakfast drink. I buy the bulk cans so that I can make it a little less concentrated than with the packets. I also add some (chocolate) protein powder to really get my morning going ;)

They aren't nutritious at the end of the day.

Have you considered seeing if your insurance covers the cost of visiting a Registered Dietician through your local hospital?

They can give you so many tips/tricks for how to trick your brain into thinking you're full, avoiding stress eating (which I'm doing now), tailoring a meal plan around your preferences.

Remember that proteins are the easiest of the core nutrients to digest. It takes almost twice as long to disgest a fat than it does a protein. So, high protein shakes may make you hungrier more quickly. Fiber tends to fill you up better (while keeping you regular), and may help keep the munchies at bay.

Hi,

I really liked GNC's Chocolate lean shake. It's whey protein powder... That with some milk, water, ice, and sometimes a scoop of peanut butter made a good shake. I don't think I lost much weight though...

Now I'm on Medifast. I LOVE it! I eat five of their soy protein crunch bars a day. (peanut butter and chocolate mint is my favorite) You eat five of their meals a day plus one lean and green meal a day. (Or some people eat 4 medifast meals and 2 lean and green meals) It's my third week and I'm down 12 pounds. I'm not really hungry since I eat every 2-3 hours. There are lots of 50 dollar off coupon codes online. Plus- they exchange food if you get something and hate it. They have a free online support website and they'll assign you a free coach as well. If you want more details just PM me. ;)

Do you like peanut butter? Do you like fruit? I have a few good recipes in a magazine that I got recently. My recipes also call for using some fiber too.

Be sure to read the labels on the diet shakes. A lot of them have a TON of sugar. If you do make your own, be sure to add a little bit of protein powder or other protein source to help you feel full longer. Straight carbs w/out a little protein will make you hungry much quicker. Fiber will also help you feel full longer. You can go to www.SparkRecipes.com and find tons of smoothie recipes, along with other healthier food options. Good luck!
