So What Happened?

I tried to reply to the posts from you ladies but i don't see a button that says reply so i had to use this. I checked my progesterone level one week after the first time on the day of my cycle of 3-4 days after the positive EPT and from 8.7 my progesterone was now 14 which my doctor said it's normal for now and the quantitative beta she said was 233 which could be because it's very early. I am not experienced in this area but we really want to have a baby, and we just started trying and confirmed it with the HPT that we were. I am still worried and think about all the things that could be wrong. I have another blood work today to check the levels again so they compare it to the one on wednesday.

I thank you for all your answers and kind words ladies. I would have never thought that an online forum could be soooo helpful. Thank you again and every input is greatly appreciated.

If someone knows how i can reply to each of your posts please let me know.

Thank you again :))

With my first pregnancy my doctor did not test for progesterone levels I lost the baby at 6 weeks. My second pregnancy we tested the day my test came back positive. It was about a 10, but needs to be higher. Over the next couple of days we tested and it went down a little more each day so Iw as put on progestrone supplements. My daughter is now 4 :). My next pregnancy as soon as the test came back positive I started taking the supplements and my son is now 3. I would have them retest you tomorrow if it is not getting any higher I would request the suplements. Best of luck.

I had low progesterone levels on my first pregnancy and my Obgyn had me on suppositories during the first trimester. Everything went great. Ask ur doc if you need to be on this and congrats on your pregnancy! Just enjoy it!

Ask for Prometrium (progesterone pills) from your OB. I got pregnant 4 times with low hormone levels. I lost the first two pregnancies first, and with the last two I got Prometrium and had 2 healthy girls. Don't wait get the pills now! Good luck :-)

I am not sure of normal levels. However, when I was pregnant I needed daily progesterone shots in my 3rd trimester. This helped me from going into preterm labor ( which I did with my other kids).

Anything below 10 is considered very low. Mine was 7 with my second daughter, and I had lots of bleeding. I took progesterone and now she is almost 3 and just fine. I did have problems at the end of my pregnancy with severely low fluid and was induced at 34 weeks. Then her sugar was dangerously low when she was born and she spent 4 days in the NICU. I've always wondered if the placenta maybe wasn't as great because of the low progesterone in the very beginning...that could have affected its function as far as producing adequate nourishment to my baby, which could also help determine amniotic fluid levels. My OB said that it's hard to say if the progesterone's low because there's a problem, or the other way around. Levels vary quite a bit, but I was told that they like it to be at least 20, so I would definitely ask for the supplement.

My first pregnancy ended in miscarriage, though I never had my progesterone levels checked. I went on to have a complication-free pregnancy with my first daughter, followed by the difficult pregnancy I mentioned above. After that, I had 2 more regular pregnancies with no problems. My children are now 4, 2, 1, and 2 months!

I'm wondering if you have charted your cycles previously??? My luteal phase is short (10 days), and that is associated with lower-than-usual progesterone. If the egg gets fertilized but doesn't have time to properly implant because of progesterone not keeping your lining in long enough, that can definitely cause miscarriage. However, I did have 3 "normal" pregnancies with no extra help, so even with a short luteal phase it's very possible to get pregnant and for the egg to implant correctly.

Best wishes to you--I've been there, and I know how emotional it is!!!! Let us know what happens!

Hi T.

Have you heard of the book "Hormone Balance- A Matter of Life and Heatlh" by Kris Klitzke, RN, BSN? I am helping her promote it. You would get a lot of insight from it. It is chock full of very eye opening info regarding progesterone levels in relation to estrogen levels and the health problems it can cause everythng from infertility, migraines, pms, low sex drive, thyroid issues, insomnia, hot flashes, and much more. And the findings are backed by scientific studies.

Kris also recommeds using natural homone cream. (Not a prescription product). You can, as someone mentioned, purchase such creams from a health food store, but not all progesterone creams are created equal so I would research them a bit. I do offer a line of natural progesterone creams through my business "Feeling Good & Looking Great!" (see business listing). I would be more than happy to send you info on the product so you can check it out and see if that is a route you would like to take. You can reach me at ____@____.com or by the phone# on my business listing.
Take care, K.

I had one miscarriage and I had low progesterone. My OB gave me progesterone with my two other pregnancies and I didn't have any problem. So I suggest you to talk to your OB Immediately.

You can ask your OB to give you a progesterone supplement. Many give you a hard time if you ask for it, as the studies have not proven that they help to maintain a pregnancy, but it couldn't hurt. My mother had chronically low progesterone levels and lost 3 pregnancies before she was diagnosed with the problem. Early in my first pregnancy I was spotting and had very low levels, and my OB expected me to miscarry. I asked for supplements and she said that she didn't think it'd help, but after my husband told her that he's just write the prescription himself, she went ahead and ordered it. Our son is now 3. Good luck and God bless!

You can get natural progesterone cream at a health food store that you can apply to your arms, legs, belly, wherever and it will absorb in. Since you have conceived, this can be helpful in keeping your levels from causing your body to recognize the low level as a sign to shed your uterine lining. That has happened to me 2x and then I started the cream immediately upon getting another +preg test a couple months later.... I am now 8 months along :-)
