I am looking for a year round preschool in the Niles area, most of the ones I looked at take spring and summer breaks which doesn't help the working parent. My son currently goes to a good one in the Southwest suburbs where we currently live, they only close the major holidays and they also have a school age program that my 1st grader attends on the days the elementary school is closed. If you have a recommendation of a good center, that provides quality childcare in the Niles area I would appreciate it.

My daughter goes to Sugar Plum Tree in Park Ridge, next to Niles. It's a day care so it's open year round and they are closed maybe 6-7 days a year. We've been quite happy with her experience there--she's been there for 1.5 years. They don't have a school age program.
Other good choices in Park Ridge are Christie's Carousel of Learning and Messiah Lutheran Child Care.
We had an excellent experience at One Hope United in Wilmette, not that far from Niles. I think that the name has changed to Wilmette Daycare, or something like that. Excellent, knowledgeable teachers, a great facility-and it's year round-only closed on a few major holidays. The kids made great friends and had a variety of activities to do.
I'm assuming you work somewhere near there so although I don't know preschools, you might check out the local park districts and churches for day long programs. I know I used to take my children to these sorts of programs when they were little. There are of course private daycares for whole days, that might be a bit pricey. Good luck!
I used to work at Swift Child Care in Skokie and they have 3 centers in downtown Skokie that are open year round, as well as open on almost all of the holidays that other schools close for. My sister is the director for one of their centers and she has been recognized by Illinois Action for Children as the 2010 "Rising Star" in the field of early childhood education.
I worked as an aide when I was in college, and if I lived closer to Skokie I'd be working there now, and my 3 children would be enrolled there as well.
