I got my Mirena IUD taken out in July and had normal cycles in August and September. We have been tracking my ovulation and I still am not pregnant. I didnt have a prblem at all getting pregnant with my son from my previous marriage. Could there be something wrong with one of us or does it take a while after getting the IUD out?

What can I do next?

I remember feeling the same way after having my first one taken out. I had mine taken out on Nov 1, 08, and didn't get my period for about 6 weeks (I never had a period while on Mirena). I got pregnant mid February, and now have a wonderful 10 month old son!! I went with Mirena again, so next time I know what to expect when TTC!

I know it seems like a long time, but it's really not. My dr actually recommended waiting until I had at least 1 (if not 2) normal cycles before TTC after having Mirena removed, so I guess my body just knew what it was doing. 3 months is not a long time to wait when TTC, though it may feel like it. Be patient and you'll get pregnant when you're supposed to! : )

I don't know that it has anything to do with your IUD, sometimes it just takes time to get pregnant. With my daughter we got pregnant the very first month we tried and then with my son it took us two years and a fertility specialist. You have only been at it for a few months just keep on "practicing", although trust me of all people I know how frustrating it can be but you really do need to give it more time.

Good luck!

Your cycle and hormones still could be out of whack. It only took us 2 months after the mirena to get pregnant, but in the grand scheme of trying to conceive, 3 months is not that long. Also, you said you were tracking ovulation...are you trying for a girl or just trying? If you're doing the girl thing it could take a lot longer b/c your window has to be so exact. If you're just trying for a baby or any kind ;) then I recommend to start having sex a every other day few days to a week before your ovulation and then a week after. You may already be doing that, but that seems to work best for us! ;)

I got pregnant with the Mirena IUD in place and had a miscarriage in mid-March. I then ended up pregnant in July and had a baby this past April. So, all told it took maybe 3 months to conceive after my IUD was removed (I had a natural miscarriage so it took awhile for my period to get back to normal). If I recall correctly the lit. that came with Mirena said that it can negatively impact fertility but that 20% of women are pregnant within a year of removal. I don't know if it is the same with a copper IUD. Good luck.

I had my Mirena in for 3 years and was pregnant around 2months after it was removed. But then again, I accidentally missed one pill and immediately got pregnant with my first so . . . I wouldn't assume something was wrong with either of you just yet but you should be able to get pregnant soon after removal of the IUD. I know its hard but relax, sometimes our bodies just aren't ready when we are. Definitely talk to your dr though so you can put your mind at ease but sometimes when we make "conceiving" too clinical it actually makes it more difficult. Relax and have fun - maybe try not tracking for a month or two and see what happens.

I had my mirena taken out in February 2009 and did not conceive until March 2010....so if it doesn't happen right away don't give up. Of course, it could have just been my ovulation since we are all different. I ended up getting on clomid and on cycle 2 of clomid is when I got pregnant.

Good luck!

Hang in there. I had my IUD removed in early August after about 4 1/2 years. After the removal, I received my period the very next day (much to my surprise) I got my first positive HPT at the end of August (I'm still in shock a little) So it happen quick - all of our body's are different. It make take a little longer for you to adjust to life without the hormones... or you may ovulate early or late... I agree with Tori H. having sex everyother day will definately increase your chances! Good Luck to you!!!

It can take a while to just get pregnant! If you had an iud with hormones like a Mirena it might take a while to flush them out. My doctor even recommended that I wait 6 months just to establish a normal cycle so tracking the conception date would be easier. But more importantly: for most women it is pretty normal to take several months worth of trying before conceiving, even if you are tracking ovulation. Of all my friends with kids, only one got pregnant the first time she tried. The rest of us (a lot of us!) took several months. Good luck!

My Dr. said we could try to conceive immediately after Mirena removal, but that it probably wouldn't happen for 3 months or more. I had the IUD for 5 yrs... got it out last November and was PG at the end of December...and am having the baby next week. I don't think anything is wrong... I am sure you will get PG in the next several months. I researched a lot and it seems it takes a lot of people 3-6 months after removal to get pregnant. I wouldn't start worrying that there is something wrong with one of you until at least 6 more months or so.

Good luck!!

Just give it another month or so. I got my out in May of 2008 and got prego after just trying a few days in Nov 2008. It just might take a few months to get it right. Hang in there and Good Luck.
