I have a 3 year old boy that we have been potty training for about 2-3 months now, he was doing great with both #1 and #2 the only time he was using diapers was for nap time and bedtime. Now within the last 2 weeks, he has had a couple accidents with pooping and even peeing a couple times? Unsure what to do with this?

What can I do next?

Relax. Keep cool. Assure him that this is all a part of becoming a big boy, and that he's doing great. Tell him that soon he will be using the potty every time, and let him know that the whole process is easy and fun.

Meanwhile, keep an eye on stress in his life and in yours. Are you tense? Is he too busy? Are you too busy? Anything you can do to bring peace into your lives will help him to focus on this new skill he's developing.

Have faith you are doing the right thing. Boys are generally harder to get them fully trained. It just takes times and patience. Boys tend to revert back more often then little girls. Just keep the praising up for the good and disapproval for the mistakes. All kids have accidents occassionally but keep training constant and before you know it there will be no more flip flopping. Good Luck

This is most likely just a boy thing. My oldest son did this and I have a daycare boy who is doing it now. He knows when he has to go potty but doesn't take the time to go.

I would just try to remind him to go more often. Tell him it is time to go-don't ask. I am not sure if you are using any kind of reward system, if not I would set one up, we just used one piece of candy like a m&m or skittle each time he went potty.

Good luck

My daughter took forever to potty train. She now has it down and doesn't even tell us- she'll just run to the potty. We were very low key about it too. We moved in the middle of her potty training and so we had to start over again aftershe settled in. I think diapers or pull-ups make it harder. For her she got #2 down pretty quick but didn't care if she peed. I don't think it was uncomfortable enough for her to care. She was happy to pee in a diaper for as long as we were happy to put one on.
What finially finished it was a combo of several things. Big exciting trip to pick out big girl underware, the book Once Upon a Potty every night and food coloring in the toilet. This was the BEST! She loved having a "pink" potty and then when she went pee she could see the color change to a orangish. She would tell me before she had to go so I could put in the food coloring, which is also wonderful because she learned to "hold it" in the process. She would wait till the water was pink and then pee. After about a week of pink water we were able to get her to turn the water "yellow" no food coloring required:) This made it enogh of a game that she was happy to do it. She hasn't even wet the bed now in over a month and nolonger is comfortable in diapers. She really loved the potty book too and would talk anout going potty like Prudance, the little girl in the girl version. Good luck!
