Potty Training - Adamsville,AL

My daughter just turned 3 this past April. She has been going to potty for about 6 months but she seems to only go when she wants to and not every time she has to. Also, she never does #2 in the potty. She always tells us after she has already gone in her pants. She has just started to preschool and we have to get her trained completely. Can anyone help me?

What can I do next?

We just got the Potty Power video a month or so ago and it really helped change things around for our son. It has a skit in there about a princess deciding to use her "throne."
We also made up a chart where if he was dry and clean and eliminated in the potty it would move up a space (related to trains and a railroad... the tracks made up squares)- .30 was worth one pullup (and just kept it as he was only wearing underwear) and if we took him and he went he got one square. After about $7 was earned we would go and get him a Thomas toy. You can fix it to your own amounts. and find out what her currency is. Also she can help clean up her own poopy undies. I used some fabric paint to paint trains on his white undies... to keep the incentive to wear the decorated ones.
We started another chart ontop of the other one that was worth 3 squares at a time (called it fast track) if he took himself.. or said he had to go and we could still help him-- but the point is he would keep himself dry and clean and initiate using the potty on his own.. then he would essentially only need 7 squares to get a toy, not 23 if we took him each time.
He is pretty much on his own now after a month.

Trust me I feel your pain because I have a 4 year 4 month old grandson who lives with me now, starting all over again with him!! He is Autistic but that doesn't help when he won't go to the potty unless he feels like it!! I have a 7 year old son that my grandson goes to the bathroom when he goes so the pee he will almost always go do but when he is with his mother then he does none of it!! You just have to decide the rules and stick to them! I have a question? Is she using a potty chair or the big potty? No one ever says which one they use but all my children used the big potty and I had to just learn when they needed to go and put them on the potty! Now with 2 of my kids I had to put them on the potty backwards because they were afraid but that worked!! Once you get rid of the pullups then don't buy anymore because if you do then they know that they really don't have to go potty like a big kid because you will put them back in pull ups!!! This is the God's truth!! all of my children were potty trained at one year except for one of them....and it really is the fact that you are the one that gets potty trained and then the kids just get use to it and keep right on doing it themselves after that!!! My oldest son, would always wait until he went out to play to go poop in his pants so I would put him on the big pot when he wanted to go out and play and he couldn't go outside until he pooped and believe me it didn't take but a few times of not getting to go out and play when he wanted for him to start using the potty!! good luck! find something that they really like and to do and put them on the potty to poop before you let them play with it! Just give it a try!! It worked for all 5 of mine!! D.

I am also have trouble in this area. My son is a five year old boy and does the same thing, but he has CP and is developmentally delayed. I am this summer going to devote 1 week to potty training only and when we can stay at home all week and all day. I have tried everything and maybe this will work.
