Potty Suggestions - Good from Start to Finish

Ladies -

Our DS is one. My Mother, who, bless her soul, does much of the childcare while I work and DH is in grad school full time, observed that little one pees, pretty consistently, when you remove his diaper. She is keen on starting E.C. (She's old school and old world, she doesn't think of it as E.C., its just training for her, and in her mind, 1 is the proper age to start). I say, why not, go for it. Right now, she is using a designated little plastic pot (similar in size to a cottage cheese container). Can anyone recommend a potty? Ideally, it would be one which would see us through from start to finish. Is there such a beast?

Looking forward to hearing your recommendations.

TIA,
Fanged Bunny

We loved the Baby Bjorn Potty Chair. You can buy them at Amazon or Babies R Us or probably other places. It was small enough that my kids could back themselves up to it at age 2 when we started training, and at 4.5, it still functions as the emergency potty in the car. We also bought a potty ring for the regular toilet, but they weren't ready for that until they were a bit bigger, maybe 3.

We got the baby bjorn potty chair (http://www.babybjorn.com/us/products/bathroom/potty-chair.... I got it at target for like $30. I started when my son was 18 months, but I think it would have worked fine earlier too and we still use it on car trips and stuff now. By the time he outgrows it he will have no problem using the big potty.

This is the one that we had the most success with: http://www.walmart.com/ip/The-First-Years-4-in-1-Potty-Tr... Now that he no longer uses a potty seat, he still uses it as a step stool. We also have one in the car (just in case), and I like that I can put the lid down so it's not super obvious what it is.

Once he outgrew the potty seat, we had these installed in all the bathrooms he uses: http://www.homedepot.com/h_d1/N-5yc1v/R-202721314/h_d2/Pr... It's so nice that we don't have to fool with taking the removable one off and on.

I've used this with both of my kids. I guess I'm like your mom, I think around 12 months is the time to start potty learning: http://www.amazon.com/Toilet-Trainer-Stool-White-Pastel/d...

Love, love love that it is a little potty, can be used on the big potty, and that it is step stool. Bought one for each bathroom.
