I totally know how you feel. My daughter is 14 months old and i still have back pain. My husband gives me soft massages and i use a heating pad a lot. The doctor told me it's because they hit a nerve when they gave it to me and there really is nothing they can do....but i take advil for the pail and heat. I hope that helps.

i had the same thing...chiropractors are expensive and it did not help. Finally, I went to a physical therapist and he showed me some exercises to do and I never had to go back. They worked perfectly.

I know what you are experiencing. I have had HORRIBLE pain in my legs and my back from my epidural. I have had no luck with pain relief. Those epidurals are the absolute worst things. I wish that I never had one. Labor pains are nothing compared to the resulting pain from an epi. If I ever have another child I will do it naturally.

This may sound strange but my husband had a similar experience after having a spinal tap - extreme pain, headaches. What the doctors finally figured out was that the hole from where the needle was injected never healed, causing great pain. What they did was inject some fluid back into the same spot and it healed back up and he hasn't had any problems since. Sounds like some others have had a similar experience in this method of relief.

I had a bad epidural experiance with the birth of my first son 16 years ago. I have had back pain and sciatic pain and numbness every since. I too just learned to live with it. I would suggest going to a doctor tho. I also broke my tailbone during that same birth and there was nothing they could do. Then I fell and broke it again last year and when I went to the doctor they gave me meds that gave me lots of relief.

The pain can continue a long time after epidural. I do have a friend who had terrible pain and would get really bad headaches after hers, and they found that she had an air pocket in her spine, so they took plasma and filled it and since she has been fine. If it is really bothering you I would check with your doctor to see if there is anything they can do. I experienced some bruising pain, but after about 2 months it was a lot better, a little sensitive til abour 4 months, but not actual pain. so if you are having pain 11 months later I would be demanding some answers and make your doctor get this fixed.

I had a friend who had a similar experience. Only she also had bad headaches. She ended up talking to her doctor about it and had to go back to the doctor to have something similar to a plug put into the hole where the epidural was. I drove her to the doctor and as soon as she came out of the surgery clinic it was like she was a changed woman. Maybe you should call your doctor and ask if there is anything that they can do. Let him know that it is giving you such trouble and maybe he can help.

I had back spasms and a very weak back for nearly a year after having my son. Get your doctor to give you a very mild muscle relaxer if you can take them. Also try to get in some stretching and very light back exercises. Even strengthening your stomach muscles (torso) will help. I feel for you.

There are mom's I know that dealt with back pain years after having children. Hang in there.

My husband is a Doctor of Chiropractic and I recommend you go see a Chiropractor in your area. If you go to the the website <www.thebodybygod.com> you are able to search for a chiropractor near you. Most insurances you don't need a referral to see a Chiropractor. Just find a Chiropractor and they can help with any insurance questions. Blessings.

Wow! I have never heard of this before! I had an epidural with my first a year ago. It wore off before I started pushing so I guess it wasn't strong enough to cause problems! I'm getting ready to have #2 in January, and now I'm scared to have another epidural. I can't believe how many people are in the same position you are in.

If you find any good remedies let us know. If I can't manage the pain naturally for #2, I would at least like to know what I can do should the epidural cause problems!

Good luck,

J.

I had that for about a year after I had my daughter, I even went to see my doctor about it. I found that the things that worked best for me were to sit and soak in a hot bath as hot as I could stand it, after my little girl went to bed and laying on the heating pad with a pillow underneath my thighs. If it gets to a point where you can't stand it then I would suggest bringing it up to your doctor, he could maybe refer you to a chiropractor or something. The way it was explained to me was that an epidural is surgery and it may take a while to completely recover from it since that area of your body is slower to heal.
