Post C-section Belly

I had an emergency c-section almost 11 months ago. I am having lots of trouble shrinking my waist and belly. My goal is to fit into my old jeans comfortably. When I wear them I have a "muffin top" if you know what I mean. Breastfeeding has helped shed almost all of the baby weight, but not my tummy. I wore the abdominal binders for a little while, but not consistently. I never wore a corset. They are way too uncomfortable. Plus do they really work?? I am exercising and I try to go to yoga at least twice a week. I am starting to think I am stuck with this. It's bad enough having sagging breasts I can't do much about. Besides exercising more and eating less any other suggestions?

What can I do next?

I lost all of the weight in a few months. My tummy was flat before. Not so much now. I keep thinking if I exercise more... but it's just stretched out :( I'm 2 years post c-section.

Like one of the previous posters said, this is not a c-section exclusing problem! I also had a 10+ lb baby and still have lots of streched out skin on my belly. We have to face the fact that the skin there will never look exactly the same as it did before. However, to target the fat, I have heard (can't try it yet, I'm pregnant again!) wonderful things about the flat belly diet- they did a test of it on Rachel Ray and they all loved it. It was developed by two women (one a nutritionist, they both work for prevention) who were looking for something for the millions of female readers who had that same problem. It got me excited; I'm going to try it as soon as the baby comes out! Check it out!

PS I heard that the belly binders don't work, but that's just what I heard.

I am in the same position. I had to have a C with my first one, and with my 2nd baby. When I was pregnant, my belly was HUGE.. not due to me being huge but with both pregnancies I carried outwardly and very big and people thought I had triplets in there. My doctor, and I've seen this online, has said that sometimes, with some women, a pregnancy can actually "split" the abdominal wall (down in the middle) and the ligaments can tear...there is a name for this condition, but I forget what it was. Thus, the ligaments won't go back to it's original state and the abdominal wall can't just reattach itself etc. Thus, the stomach will still protrude and "look" as though you are still pregnant. This may NOT be in your case though. But it is in my case, unfortunately. My friend has also had this happen to her, and she has told me that her friend has this problem as well. They have also had C sections, but I don't know if this is C-section specific, or just the way a pregnancy affected the body/abdominal wall.

Again, this may not be your case at all. I really can understand how you feel. I just wanted to share my experience. In the other end of the spectrum, I know some women opt for plastic surgery? Working out very hard and consistently may help get the stomach stronger... but for me, I know I will not get a flat stomach again... I used to have 6 pack abs and was in very good shape before pregnancy and was very fit and worked out everyday. However, this did not exclude me from the state of my belly now or how the pregnancy affected my stomach muscles post pregnancy.

I guess the good ol' way of working out, the whole body, not just spot toners is the one sure way of helping the stomach tone up. But it will take time. I give you a hug as I know how this tummy issue can feel. Good luck and take care,

I also had an emergancy c-section 3 years ago, and I sitll have the muffin top. I had lost a lot of weight almost 30lbs, but that sag right on top of my c-section never went away. Sorry to tell you, I know some moms that look amazing, but my DR. said everybodys body it different.

Ok, I have to first off say, I don't know how much advise I have to offer, I just want to say I KNOW HOW YOU FEEL! I didn't have a c-section.... but I did have a 10 1/2 baby! My tummy streched SOOOOOOOOO much. I just have skin that hangs :( I have lost all of the baby weight, but my tummy sucks. My boobs suck too. Thankfully they are full of milk so they don't hang to my toes yet! You are not alone! Our bodies go through so much for these little amazing babies!!!!! I personally would do it 1000 times!!!!

I have had 2 c-sections, though my girls were no larger than 8lbs., the first one (now 5 years old), no problem losing the weight and the extra on the side. In fact I weighed less after the first baby then I did before (freak of nature I guess) The second one (now 3 years old) the weight no problem but the muffin top has been an ongoing battle. It is slooooooooooowly dwindling away. It does take work and dedication, but get some tips from a trainer and do the exercise. And be realistic, everyone's body is different and age does play a part, things don't go back the way they used to (I am 35)
I am not sure I am much help, but just so you know there are PLENTY of others out there who know how you feel.

My C section baby is now 5 years old. You can get rid of belly with a great deal of work!! If your belly wasn't completely flat before you had baby you probably won't get any flatter than that. Abdominal work, crunches, sit ups etc. My advice talk with a personal trainer about what kind of workout to target that area. Also there is a new cosmetic procedure where they don't cut or do liposuction surgery it is done with shots in the area and fat literally dissolves out. Worth a look at online.

I also had a C-section and let me tell you girl, its not easy getting rid of that "muffin top" above the incision area. It sucks but with all the dieting and exercising in the world that thing won't go away. Only freaks of nature get away with going back to looking anorexic. lol. My friend who had an emergency C-section too had gone back to her pre-baby weight but still had that little "pudge" there. I'm giving myself a 21st birthday presesnt and getting a tuck and lift somewhere. lol.
