How many gallons does it hold.. If it's just a little wading pool 1/2 c. bleach may be too harsh. Tiny bugs are inevitable. Bugs like the water. Just get a small butterfly net and scoop 'em out.

Don't know about anyone else but I personally do put a little bleach in my kiddy pool. It seems to stay cleaner a little longer, Itherwise I end up having to clean it everyother day. Which is a pain and a major waste of water. I have heard of other people using a little bit of pool shock too. A bottle should last all season. My kids havn't had any adverse affects from it, Just amkes it the same as a public pool :)

Do not use bleach. Bleach is a very harsh chemical and can cause skin irritation. I would suggest dumping the pool each time he is done using it and rinse it out. You could add a tad bit of algaecide to the water. You can also use a net to scoop bugs and stuff out of it.

Unless you have a cover, please dump the water out at the end of your pool time! This is a safety issue, your baby or someone else's toddler could wander by and climb in and no one would know. Kids can drown in the tiniest amount of water!! My 1st dd toddled over to our old neighbor's backyard, they had just set up a pool but no one was in it, and I didn't know it was there. Got to her just as she was putting a toe in the water. It always made me so nervous, had to watch her every moment.
I hate wasting the water too, but I scoop some out first to water my flowers and bushes. Then I turn the pool (we have the old-school hard plastic kind) on its side to drain and dry out.

I wouldn't put bleach in the kiddie pool, the children do tend to drink/swallow the water! Get a skimmer to remove the bugs, grass, etc.
You should dump it out at least once a week and wash it out and refill it. I used to use pine-sol, let it dry overnight after rinsing it out well and refill it.

We empty ours out every night and then refill it in the morning. It's a bit of a pain but it keeps it clean.

They sell chlorine tablets at local hardware stores to use in kiddie pools. They are specifically designed for those smaller ones. I don't know that I would pour bleach into the pool. I'm sure you can find them anywhere that sells these pools, but Menards is where I bought mine. They also can be used to remove iron build-up in your well, if you live in the country.

I don't have one set up but I imagine that since it is so much smaller than a big pool that I would just dump it out each time after use. That way it wouldn't be a breeding place for mosquitos, etc. Then everytime you use it, fill with clean water.

I've always just dumped out the pool each evening and refilled it when we want to use it again. I'm not sure putting bleach in is a good idea -- my kids have very sensitive skin and I would worry that they would react to it.

Please don't use chemicals. It's just not necessary. Cover the pool with a tarp, or even an old vinyl or plastic table cloth. Empty and refill as necessary.

Bleah might hurt the pool. I usually just empty it and scrub it like a bath tub.

no, your kids will drink that and their skin will be in contact with it (including p****** p****). It may also eat at the plastic. Dump the pool and start fresh each time or fill it in the morning to let it warm by afternoon.

No, I would not put clorox or any other chemical in the water. That could be very harmful if swallowed. If he doesn't like the bugs or whatnot, then wash it out. Otherwise, that's what the little pools are for. Kids should get used to the beauty of nature!

I would not add bleach, that is very harsh on the skin and could possibly sting the eyes. I always put a small amount of dish soap in to prevent mosquitos from laying eggs and then refilled the pool every few days. However if this pool is very large and has a filter they do sell starter kits with chemicals to use in the pool to keep it clear and safe for swimming.

Hi! I know it is a hassle but dumping it everyother day is better then putting bleach in the water, which could burn your little one's skin. They do make tablets for smaller pools, I have seen thema t K-mart - but they go quick. We just cover ours with a tarp when we'ere not using it. Helps keep out the bugs. Good luck!

In your situation I would say it is not safe to put bleach into the pool. you could get one of those scooping nets to get out the bugs. It looks like a fly swatter but they have them for swimming pools. You can try looking at a place where they sale swimming pool supplies. You can also drain the water out of the pool and refill it the next day.

I am an aquatic expert and I recommend you empty the water every day after use for several reasons. First, kiddie pools are a huge drowning hazard mainly because parents think it isn't deep enough to drown in when it only takes an inch of water. Second, kids naturally will urinate in water until they are potty trained. The swim diapers don't contain the urine at all. If you add chlorine bleach to the water it will irritate the eyes because it effects the water's PH and the bleach will fade the swimsuit and irritate the skin. However, if you want to use a bleach solution to disinfect the pool in between uses, I would recommend rinsing it out once a week to help eliminate odor and mildew to the pool with 1 cup bleach to one gallon of water. Sponge the pool down with the solution and rinse the pool with tap water and then it is ready to be filled again. I hope this helps.

I think you are supposed to empty it out every couple of days and scrub it and then fill it up again. That's an awful lot of bleach--check online and see what is recommended for your size pool. Bleach not only will ruin the bathing suit, it will also burn your child's skin if there is too much.

First of all Bleach is a pesticide and VERY toxic - huge side affects.
I suggest that you dump out the water each time and then clean it out. We use products from Shaklee especially Basic G which is effective in killing germs and is non toxic. You will find these at www.getclean.us

addidng that much bleach to the water could seriously harm your children unless you rinse it extrememly well before adding fresh water...with my son's pool i would just empty the water out after he was finished playing and turn it on it's side to dry & to prevent bugs from making the water their new home.

Yuck:( Don't put bleach in (or on) anything that will touch your baby's skin. There are non-chemical options out there, you just need to look in to them. Good Luck!
