Podiatrist Recommendations

I have been experiencing extreme heel pain since April. I delivered my second child in March and shortly after the heel pain began. I have seen an orthopedic doctor and had an MRI and was basically told there is nothing wrong and I should give it some time because pregnancy is hard on the body. Being a Mom of two with a husband who travels a lot does not allow me to stay off my feet. I do work out often and that poses a whole other problem. I did stop working out for a month to see if that would help and it didn't.Unfortunately I have lived 6 months with this pain and am ready to feel good again. Every step I take is painful. I am looking for a second opinion and thought I would try a podiatrist. Does anyone have any recommendations? I live in Chandler.
Thanks!

What can I do next?

Dr. Alan Discount, ###-###-####, 600 S. Dobson Road, Suite D3 He is wonderful, but very popular. Try to get an appointment first thing in the morning or right after lunch to avoid waiting.

Dr. Alan Discont, he is great!

I would HIGHLY recommend Dr. Lewis Freed. He's in Mesa but would be totally worth the drive. I have had many foot issues since my daughter was born in 2007 and he was wonderful in helping to diagnose the problem. Actually with his help, we ended up finding out that a pain in my left pinky toe, was related to arthritis in my feet which also led to the discovery of it in my hips! :) He doesn't just like to jump to Band-Aid treatments but really wants to get to the root of the problem. The number to his office is ###-###-#### and the address is 6116 E. Arbor Ave. Suite #118 Mesa, AZ 85206 It looks like they have other offices too but I see him in the Mesa office. Their website is http://evfas.net/index.html

I love Dr. Cameron McKay. He helped me to heal my plantar faciitas and a plantar wart on the same foot at the same time. His office is in Mesa on Stapley between Main and University.

I have been using Dr Alan Discont for a couple years and love him! He spends time talking to you and isn't in a rush. He's office is usually running on schedule so you don't waste time in the waiting room! He has helped me, he's in Chandler on Dobson over by the hospital, 600 S Dobson Rd ###-###-####.

Dr. Haddon at East Valley Foot and Ankle is excellent. My son has had a lot of problems with his big toes and has two surgeries. All of the doctors are good in this practice, but I prefer Dr. Haddon. His bedside manner is good, he listens, doesn't rush you out, and explains in detail. Is it a distance to travel, but worth it. ###-###-####

Have you seen a reputable Physical Therapist yet?

I would recommend you contact Endurance Rehab in Scottsdale/Phoenix and they will be able to recommend s/o in your area. Their PT's have PhD's and are so extremely knowledgeable. They deal with all injuries, but specialize in sports injuries and take athletes aches seriously.

Has anyone discussed the possibility of Plantar Fasciita (sp?). I had it after baby #2, and of course the GP wanted to treat with motrin. I thought, no way, I'm nursing a baby, but she would not budge on her prescribed protocol.

Anyway, after following their stretching and strengthening exercises my heel pain is gone. I even have a nasty bone spur, but it was the plantar fasciita that was killing me.

I also saw an orthopaedic doc and a podiatrist. Ortho's don't operate on such and the podiatrist insisted on casting my feet and making worthless insole orthotics, which I never got used.

The PT's at Endurance Rehab made me eSoles - and I walk and feel so much better with them. So in short, the PT's can diagnose almost any aillment with your post pregnancy body. One of the PT's there - it's his specialty - new moms.
