I have a two a half year old boy who needs some friends and mom needs a social outlet. Does anyone know of any play groups or is interested in play dates? We love the parks and having fun!

I just signed up for a mom's group through "Meetup." A friend of mine recommended it to me. Here's the link: http://www.meetup.com/find/ to find a group in your area.

Hi T.! Just wanted to invite you to the moms group at my church. It is Compass Church in downtown Vancouver on Main St. and 19th. We meet Thursday mornings at 9 am and there is childcare and a potluck breakfast. We are studying the book of Psalms and praying together, and we are going to the Pumpkin Patch on the 29th. It is a great group of 7-8 genuine women. Let me know if you are interested! :-)

Knowing where you live helps people give you better responses (and more helpful ones). I have a free playgroup that meets at the Estacada public library every Thursday morning at 10:30 that is mostly 18m-3yr old toddlers and their moms (and a few grandmas/dads). I started this group on my own simply by asking if I could use the community room at the library and then spreading the word through flyers, an ad in the local paper and talking to people at the grocery store and playground/park. Through word of mouth there are now 8-10 regulars at the playgroup (usually 4-5 at a time when they can come). So, if you can't find a group start one!

hi T.

you didn't mention where you are but you could try an indoor playpark. on the east vancouver/camas side, there is the camas-washougal indoor playpark. in west vancouver, there is noah's arc. these are great places to go when it's yucky outside.

also, there are tons of playgroups you can join on www.meetup.com.

did you try the playgroups at community centers? firstenburg has one.

Hi T.--
MOMS Club is an absolutely fantastic resource for any mom but especially new moms or moms new to the area or both. MOMS stands for "Moms Offering Moms Support". Check out www.momsclub.org to find a chapter closest to you. It was a life saver for me. It offers play groups and lots of other opportunities to meet and chat with other moms in your area.
Good luck!
