Hi Moms - I'm 36 and recently diagnosed with Pelvic Prolapse (my pelvic floor isn't holding up my bladder and uterus like it should, causing everything to sag down). I would love to know if anyone out there has a urogynecologist they recommend and a women's physical therapist trained in perineal physical therapy. Also, if anyone has had experience with Pelvic Prolapse I'd like to know what route was successful for you; surgery/physical therapy/etc. Thanks!

What can I do next?

I think the women of comprehensive women's center are good with such issues, they're in buffalo grove.

I had the sling surgery done about 10 months ago and I still have NO bladder control. I am 38 and will pee myself forever.

Good timing of the post as I just went to my Gyne this week and asked about this. I had already done the therapy. The lady is fantastic at Lake Forest in the workout center. Kristen Scott is her name. I went to therapy for several months. They are about hour long sessions and be prepared to have her hand feeling your "muscles" or lack there of as well as LOTS and LOTS of kegal exercises. You would never believe how many exercises there are to do for your pelvic floor-LOL!! After therapy my muscle strength did increase a ton however was still leaking and not happy with that. Hence my yearly check up. We talked in depth about the surgery as well as I am way too young (35) to be leaking for the rest of my life! I will be opting for sugery however they are very strict on post op as you cannot lift over a certain poundage for TWELVE weeks. Well since that is not totally realistic with having a one year old I am going to have to wait however she did give me a name of a urogyne who in fact my mom went to and raved about. There are a ton of tests that would need to be done before you can even have the hammock type surgery plus you need to find out if your uterus is in tact b/c if not it could lead to another surgery. Ghandi is his last name. I think San Jay is his first. My Gyne told me they specialize in this and go to school for an extra couple of years to do this kind of stuff. IF you have any other questions, I am a wealth of knowledge since it's fresh in my mind. Good luck. Amazing what babies do to your body-LOL!!

Hi M. -
I see Jennifer at the Athletico in Barrington. She's very good. Check at an Athletico near you and ask for "Women's Health." I also saw Dr. Lewis in Barrington who is a urologist. They think I need the sling surgery to hold up my urethra, but she told me I"m still doing good with being in physical therapy. Good luck, but be patient - it takes time!
