Ped. Dentist and When?

I was refered to a ped dentist for my daughter a couple of years ago. He has an office in Chaddford and Newtown Square (on rt 3). He actually called my daughter a spoiled brat. She was crying because she was petrified. I was so angry i never made an appointment there again. In a couple more visits with the family dentist she was no longer afraid. What a JERK is all i have to say!!

Our pediatric dentist recommends age 3, but I saw something that concerned me when my daughter was just 18 months old, and I called and they took a look at her, and assured me all is ok. If you call the dentist now, tell him/her that your child has all her teeth, he/she will let you know whether it's time to come in. I don't have a dentist in the Warrington area. Sorry!

I don't have a dentist for you in Warrington...but my dentist recommends starting kids at age 3. They have a specialized program for younger kids...makes the dentist visit really fun for them. Wish you luck!!

I am not sure at what age the dentist recommends starting, but I started taking my oldest when he was 2.
Dr. Theodore Croll in Doylestown is a wonderful pediatric dentist. He was actually my dentist growing up, and I am so glad he is still practicing so my kids can go there too. He has a very good way with the kids, and he is very good at handling screamers:) Does his best to make it fun for the kids. And of course, he does a great job cleaning the teeth and giving pointers and instruction to parents.

I just found out that the American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that children should see the dentist by age 1. Kind of surprising, but they're all about prevention. So, the sooner, the better, I guess :-)

My family dentist said to bring me son with me to my appt when he was around 2, so he could meet the dentist & see what would happen during an appt. He said if my son seemed comfy the would put him in the chair & do a quick check. He said I should make a real appt for him when he was 2 &1/2 or 3. He also said we could come in sooner if we thought we had any problems.

I dont live in your area, but my dentist said to bring him in at 3 and also if we could to bring them in when you go in so they can see what the dentist is and sit in the chair. Just helps them be less afraid. :)

It is best to have your daughter examined now, there is no need to wait until 3. I am a general dentist (I practice in Spring House), but I refer my peds patients to Dr. Ted Croll or Dr. Riesenberger, both are in Doylestown.

Hi! My son is a little over 2 and when i started calling around they (dentist) told me to wait till he's around 3 1/2 or 4. Basically, they said when he is old enuf to sit still and understand what they are going to be doing. They said as long as he's brushing, (flossing when there's no big spaces in between teeth) he'll be fine. Hope this helps!!

When my son was little, I asked our dentist at what age we should start bringing him. Her answer was to start around the age of 2. She also suggested that we bring him along for one of our visits so that he could see what will happen when he comes for his visit so it won't be so scary for him.

Can't help with a pediatric dentist, but dentists will set their own age for first visit, varying from 2-4. Many are at age 3, but when you find a dentist, just give them a call and ask. If you see no visible problems with your child's teeth and brush at least twice a day then I'd wait until age 3, talking about beforehand so the child understands what will be going on. Seeing the dentist can be scary for some children.
