Part Time Day Care

This has been a difficult challenge for me. I am a first time mom and really want to stay home with my son but need the income. I am looking for part time day care for my 5 month old son. I do feel fortunate that it is only part time but it is still tough. The days I am looking for care for him is Mondays and Wednesdays from 8:15/8:30am - 5:30/6pm. I am specifically looking near the Mokena area. I am pretty confident I am looking at in home daycare rather than a daycare center. Or, if the match was right I would love someone to come to our home. Can anyone please help or advise me on someone that could care for my son and resonable price? Also, what do you think is a good price to pay for part time care like this? Any advice would be great.

What can I do next?

Hi K.,
The first thing you need to do is make sure that the home daycare you choose is Licensed. The next question of pay varies by the provider, but for part time care I charge 30 for the day and some charge more??!
You could try calling a woman by the name of Linda Baker her number is ###-###-####. She is the referral coordinator for an association of Licensed Daycare Homes in Will County. See if she can help. Good Luck.

Kristen,
I daycare out of my home, I live in Crestwood.
I have been doing thisfor 12+ years.
I always check around the daycare's to see what they are charging to be sure I am fair. I charge for an infant $150.00-175.00 per week depending on situations. I 30-35$ per day for an 8-10 hour day is a pretty fair price topay. Remember you get what you pay for. Look for some one who is great with the kids, and someone that others have nothing but good things to say, and remember check them out when they have the kids in thier care, see how interaction is. The kids that the person is watching will be your best judge see how they are when they are in this persons home. But you have to be comfortable also.
I only work from word of mouth I do not advertise,I let my families do that for me. I always havea full house.
Good Luck

I am a mother who is looking to stop working and take care of a child or two. I have my CNA, am a first responder and know CPR. However I live about 15 to 20 minutes south of Mokena. I don't know if this would work for you. If you are interested you can give me a email me ____@____.com and I can give you number to reach me at. If not I can tell you that right now we pay our sitter for my son who is 18 months old 4 dollars an hour for three 8 hour days. This I believe is a good rate. She lives New Lenox. If you would like I can also ask her if she has any openings. She is absolutely wonderfull with children. She is really like another mom for my son who I am away from for 40 hours a week. She is very CLEAN. She interacts with the kids. They have story time and so on. She even has special sheets for my son which I think is pretty neat that she reserves something so simple as a sheet for my son but it is because she knows he likes them. I don't know if I helped at all but hopefully. Good luck to you. I know for me finding someone to care for my baby was one of the hardest things to do. To leave him is the hardest thing I do every day and it does not get easier.
