I wanted to know if anyone had recently given birth at Paradise Valley Hospital. I have to choose between PV and Scottsdale Heathcare Shea. I delivered at SHS 4 years ago and the care given was satifactory. I want to tour PV, but wanted some responses good or bad about anyones experience at Paradise Valley and Scottsdale since it's been so long. Thanks so much!

I just wanted to thank everyone who took the time to share there experiences. I have made my choice and I could not have done it without you. My husband and I will make the trip to Scottsdale Shea to deliver. Thank-you, K.

Scottsdale Healthcare Shea would be my pick ... I have had less than satisfactory service at PV hospital. I too had my son at Scottsdale Healthcare almost 6 years ago and had a wonderful experience there. Good luck!

My son was born at PV 4 years ago and our experince was nothing but positive. My doctor's private practice is accross the way(Dr.Shannon at Caring for Women)and my son's pediatrician (Dr.Dorame)is also in the same parking lot(Dessert Canyon Pediatrics)and they both use PV facilities to deliver and give the babies their initial care.PV nurses and other professionals were also extremely nice and helpful.Good luck and congrats on your new baby!!

I have three children and though none of them were born at either of those hospitals (JCL - which has THE GREATEST food, by the way!), all of my experiences at PV have been negative. Though they were all ER visits, I never felt completely satisfied with the services there. My third child was very sick as a newborn and we spent a large amount of time at the Shea hospital with her. I loved every single nurse that we had (and we had plenty!) and everyone treated us respectfully. The only complaint I have is that their house pediatritian seemed to have some sort of thing against breastfeeding (our baby had jaundice and he blamed it on my nursing her, then when she had the flu a week later, he again blamed it on the breastfeeding! The third time we didn't see him because our pediatrition came to see her instead.) I don't know that he would still be there or that you would even end up with him as your doctor. If you have chosen a ped. for your child already, you could always avoid this situation by letting them know where you will deliver and they will come and make the rounds and see your child instead of the physician on call.

I had to choose between the two of those as well and I originally choose PV but then I had complications and my doc. had m go to Shea because he perfers the triage unit at Shea better. I had a very good experience for both of my deliveries at Shea. It had changed a bit from the first delviery to the second (26 months difference) But I would go back. PV I did my lamaze classes there and toured the unit and it was alright. But I think Shea was a littl nicer and had a bit bigger rooms.
Good Luck and happy delivery :)

I had the choice of both when my twin girls were born. I chose PV hospital because it was closer but also because i had my first daughter there and they were wonderful. Great nurses, very helpful and the whole thing was great!!

Hello K.,

I'm going through the same thing. I have to choose between these two hospitals and so far I just heard bad things about PV. My friend's sister is a nurse and she told me to chose any hospital, BUT PV. Also, PV is level I and Shea is level III. Level III is much more prepared in case the baby has any problem. I'm going w/Shea hospital. Good luck.

I had both my children at PV Hospital. One 10/04 and the other 3/06. Both experiences were excellent. The nurses were kind, for the most part. I think I only had one over night nurse that made me feel like I was bothering her, but otherwise, they were very attentive and supportive. I would go there again if and when we have our third. Good luck!
