Painful Cracked Heels

I was wondering if anyone had any cures for cracked painful heels. I've tried everything from fungal creams, antibiotic creams, lotions and socks and simply washing really good and a pumice stone. The washing, soaping up really good, seems to work the best, well it did, and now even that doesn't seem to work. I can't find any "cures" on the internet and thought maybe one of you had an answer. Thanks.

What can I do next?

I just got a pedicure on Sunday and I have the same problem. This is what the manicurist said works best. Lots of vaseline on the heels and socks for a few hours when you go to bed. I never wear anything but slippers (thongs) and my deet are already getting better.

I recommend staying away from sandals and wearing socks and tennis shoes as often as you can, plus using some kind of foot cream (I don't think the kind matters too much) every night. I find that the more I wear sandals, the worse me feet get. Good luck!

I have heard soaking your feet in vinegar (Costco sells a big gallon for about $4.00)about twice a day really WORKS in helping anything related to your feet. My husband was given that advice and it totally worked (he had from nail fungus, cracked & dry feet, etc. - everything you can think of)he is now able to wear sandals during the summer!

Did you try "Miracle Heel Repair" cream? I found it at Linens N Things. I had the cracked heel to the point where it hurt when I walked. This healed it after 1 or 2 applications. The cream is about $10. Here's the link:

Melaleuca products are great too. Renew is the best!

I believe the best "cure" for dried skin, including cracked heels, is Renew from Melaleuca. I could give you a small travel size to see if it helps. This product is only available through reps. Let me know...

Get that thick, dead skin off first! Once you do that, you will heal nicely.

I have tried everything mentioned in these responses and nothing worked. (My heels used to bleed in the afternoons the cracks were so deep.)

I finally found a Dr. Scholl's hand-held, metal foot scraper (I don't know the offical name for it - it kinda looks like a mini cheese grater. It has a white handle and is about 8" x 1") and used it on my dry heels. I have found using it on dry skin works best.

I basically sandpapered off all the thick, dead skin until I got to the nice, soft, new skin. (It took about an hour of hard scraping the first time!) Then, I started lotioning my feet at night and wearing socks.

It was sooooo nice to have "real" feet again!!! (And, the cracks felt SO MUCH better! They didn't hurt as much and they were able to heal without that thick layer of dead skin surrounding them.)

I still get "hard" heels occasionally (my feet are still at the bottom of my priority list. LOL) but my Dr. Scholls buddy does the trick every time. (I have gone through 4 of them in the last 2 years.)

Good luck and enjoy a pretty-feet Summer!

The soaking and pumice stone is the best way. However consistency is key, otherwise the thick skin will build up again and quickly. Good luck.

Zims crack creme (I have the spray). My Mom got it at Longs in AZ for me. I have not been able to find it in stores but here it is at Amazon. It has cured my feet at their worst and it is all natural!
