Pain During Intercourse

Lately I have been having pain on the sides of my lower stomach during sex with my husband. It always lasts into the next day and feels like menstrual cramps. A friend of mine said it may be a cyst on my ovary, but I don't know anything about that stuff. I have an appointment to see a doctor but not till the end of the month and I wanted to see if anyone else has experienced this and knows what it may be. Thanks in advance!

What can I do next?

Hi J.! I recently had surgery to remove 2 cysts from my ovaries. It sounds like exactly what I had! Pain during intercourse and until the next day. Definitely get it checked out! I've also had endometriosis and even though the pain is slightly different, it's still pain! Definitely talk to your doctor about it and there's nothing worse than painful sex! Find other ways to satisfy you and your hubby until you find out what's up!! I hated it, but I think I hated the pain more! Let me know if you have any more questions!!

It probably is a cyst. I've had them before. If it is a cyst it's probably no big deal, but you should consider stopping having sex until you get to the doctor. I didn't stop, and my ruptured, which was very painful for several days.

I used to experience pain like that.Mine was due to ovarian cysts but I am sure that there are other things that can cause it.Only thing I can offer to you is to say that if it is cysts then they are simple to get rid of.The first step (if they are found in early stages) is birth control pills that keep your hormones leveled out.

I think you're just going to have to wait until the doctor's appointment. There's so many reasons for pain like that. For me personally I found out I had kidney stones.
There's just so many things that can cause pain in your stomach. And the worst thing you can do is stress about all the possibilities and think of what horrible thing it could be. So just relax, it sucks to hurt, but in the end I'm sure everything will be ok.

Before deciding to have a child I had this and after many dr apts i was sent to a ob/gyn and with US found i have a fiber/fibroid in the middle of my uterus. having my daughter helped but every now and then it will hurt during intercourse and recently I went in for another round of US due to heavy bleeding and cramping and found out that when I ovulate from my right ovary it doesn't fully ovulate, it turns into a cyst and thus causing severe pain and bleeding.

I've always had problems with ovarian cysts, I've even had surgery to remove them 3 times now. And it has gotten to the point where I know I've got one and I can tell if it's a big or little one based on the amount of pain I'm having. And when I start having pain during intercourse I know it's time to get my cyst checked out and I make an appt to see the doctor. They also cause pain when I bend or twist sometimes too.
I think it's great you're going to see your doctor, especially if you haven't got a history of anything specific. It could be cysts or a number of other things as some others have already mentioned. Good luck and I hope your appointment goes well for you!

I had this same problem after having my first child. My doctor told me it was from having a crooked uterus. I felt like my uterus had drop. It was very painful and the most uncomfortable sex I had ever experience. Sometimes today I still have that pain, I just have to tell myself to relax and sometimes I just have to reposition myself. I would love to hear what your doctors say. Please let us know.

The truth is that with the few things you told me I could name about 30 things that could be wrong. A doctor will need to do a full look at you to tell you what is going on.

I've had the same trouble since I had my ectopic. Occassionally it happens right around ovulation time and will continue for the week. One doctor says that it's endometrial tissue swelling in response to my hormonal shifts, another says it's my ovaries swelling due to the same hormonal shifts, and the third says that it's related to my intestinal problems and happens when I have hormonal shifts.

Good luck with the doctor, you may never really know unless you have surgery.
