Pain & Increased Bleeding 5 Days After a D&C-TMI

I had a miscarriage and a D&C last Wednesday. Following the procedure, I had some cramping and some light bleeding. After a couple of days, the cramping went away but the light bleeding has continued. It was almost gone on Saturday, but then picked up again yesterday. I also started noticing some pressure, similar to the pressure and pain you get with a UTI, that kind of increased throughout the day yesterday. So today, I am still having this pressure and pain. It hurts worse when I go to the bathroom, and my bleeding is a lot heavier. Until today, It went from being mostly a light pinkish red color with no clots, to very dark red with some blackish looking clots. I have a call into the OB, but am wondering if anyone else has experienced this. I've been on an antibiotic since the procedure, so I don't see how I could have a UTI, but that is what this pain and pressure feels like. I'm baffled.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

The nurse practitioner finally called me back at 7:00 PM! She said it's likely a UTI because the antibiotic they give for the surgery is not the same one they would use for a UTI. She told me to wait until my post-op appointment which is this afternoon unless I should develop a fever. She said the bleeding isn't a concern unless I'm soaking through a pad per hour.

I wonder whether you're not doing too much? When I had a D&C the more I did, the more I bled. The stiller I was, the less I bled.

Take it easy, ok?

See your Doctor.
I had a D&C once for a miscarriage and that did not happen to me.

You need to rest.
Have you told your Husband?
He needs to help you out.
This is your health.

It could be that this antibiotic isn't working for you and that you have an infection. Please go back to the doctor for an examination because this doesn't sound right.

Maybe you've been bending and lifting more than you should for a bit. Good you called the doctor. I had a D&C, not for a miscarriage, but after a birth and did not have any of this pain, etc. Be sure no infection or anything.

Definitely speak to the doctor. However, just to ease your mind, I had a miscarriage several years ago, and bled heavily (off and on) for a MONTH afterward. The doctor told me sometimes that happens. :( Take it easy; no heavy lifting, and stay off your feet if you can. Sorry you are going through this.
