my son is 9 and is overactive. he can't sit still, and his mouth is like walmart (open 24-7). our 16 yr old son had adhd as a boy and we decided to medicate, but we used dexedrine ans straterra. we deceided not to do that this time around as we know the ramifications of medding children. we heard that fish oil works. has anyone out there heard of this? help please.

What can I do next?

I don't have any experience on whether it will help you or not but I get a product called Coromega for my daughter who is dev. delayed. It tastes like orange cream and squeezes out of a little ketchup like packet and is like pudding. She loves it! I know fish oil is nasty tasting so this might be something to check into if you decide to do it. I get it at the Vitamin World at the outlet mall in Albertville but I'm sure you can find it other places or find similar products.
Good Luck,
Jenifer

H., I have some great articles about adhd and omegas 3/fish oils. I cannot say enough about how great omegas are. If you would like the articles, please pm for the e-mail addy. If you would like some other alternatives that are natural, I can recommend them as well. I have a few friends that have tried these methods and they have really worked.

My uncle has a child who was labeled add/adhd. He wrote a book about parenting and raising a child without medications. Its really a great book! You can find it at amazon.com, http://www.amazon.com/Life-Edge-Parenting-Child-ADHD/dp/1...

I think that link should work, if not, do a search for David Spohn. Theres also another book called "The Myth of the A.D.D Child:50 Ways to Improve Your Child's Behavior and Attention Span Without Drugs, Labels, or Coercion" yeah, long title LOL its by Thomas Armstrong. I highly suggest reading these books.. And I think its great you want to do this without medication.

I have heard of fish oils working well with ADHD. But you need to make sure it's a high-quality fish oil. I have my own business, and I have a great product. Let me know if you are interested in finding out more, and I would be happy to give you more info.
Good luck!

I am wondering what type of household products you use. The company that I am with makes products that are safer for you home, and I know that some people have seen great results in their children with ADHD when they have converted their homes to our safer products. They are great quality products and are reasonably priced. Let me know if you are interested in seeing what we offer. I would love to share it with you! It would take me about an hour to show you. S.
