Outdoor Activities for Toddlers?

Hi! I'm wondering if any of you know of any great outdoor activities for toddlers- in a group setting or not. My 2.5 year old little boy loves to fish with his dad, loves animals, trucks/tractors, pretend tools, stuff like that. We have done story time at the library and arts/crafts activities but he is getting bored with these fast.
I checked into Lowe's build and grow workshop but the minimum age on their website is 5+.
Thanks so much!

What can I do next?

How about the 7 acre wood in conroe, I have heard it is neat, they have a petting farm, and a huge playground, and lots of activities

If Lowe's won't let you take him, then take him to Home Depot's Kid's Workshop, they allow kids of any age. You can take him to feed ducks, find a park with a toddler playscape, go to the zoo or look for a kid's amusement park. Have you thought about joining a play/mom's group? Check meetup.com for some by you : )

maybe check out the kids toys page at http://www.justgreatkidswear.com/Toys.html. In addition, to the 365 game ideas, there are all kinds of unique toys and fun for outdoor activity. My favorite is the Discovery Store....lots of really cool ideas. Hope this helps.

me and my 2.5 yr old go outside and:
-swing
-blow bubbles
-chase the dog
-ride his tricycle
-kick balls
-hit balls off of a tee using a cork (light) bat
-hit golf balls using a kid-sized putter
-move rocks, look for bugs, rake up leaves - anything I can think of.

Often, we'll go to a playground too. We have a coffee shop nearby where we buy a drink and he plays on the playground. Best of luck to ya!

Oh and on cold days when I just need out of the house -- we'll go browse the pet store and talk about the different colored fish and the mice etc.

If you're looking for something for your backyard, a sand and water table can keep a toddler interested for a long time! If it's not too warm out, just fill it with sand.

While I know it is winter...in the summer, we put a inflatable pool outside with all his water toys.
For now...we go to the park and bring whatever toys he wants. We like him to get fresh air when we can...
Last week-end, we visited a friend's farm, which he loved. We also go to coffee houses and bring crayons and paper and he loves to watch the people.

My nephew who is almost 3 has been to the Lowe's workshop at least 5 times already so he must have started when he was 2.5. He loves it!

How about a "treasure" hunt/hike? Or building a fort out of boxes, blankets, or whatever you have lying around?
