Have any of you traveled to Orlando with a baby? I need all the advice I can get. Flying with or without baby's own seat, renting a stroller or taking my own, Disney advice, port-a-crib, etc. Any and all advice is welcome. I am leaving in two weeks for 10 days.

Thank you!!

My daughter is one year old and has been on a plane 5 times, so I've learned a few things. I would suggest taking a stroller, but one with a tray to double as a highchair. It's also nice to have your own b/c it can be used as a luggage carrier in the airport. Don't worry about bringing too many toys because everyday items--toilet paper rolls, snack wrappers, keys, etc--usually offer just as much appeal and don't have to be packed. In regard to the pack-n-play, you can probably rent a crib from your hotel--most have them available. You may want to bring a couple crib toys and blankets that your baby will recognize. I also always bring music since my daughter is used to listening to it as she falls asleep at home. If you're renting a car you should be able to rent a car seat as well (and it's worth it). One more suggestion for the plane--bring a bottle or binky for the way up and the way down so the pressure doesn't bother the little ones ears. Good luck!!

My family lives in FL and I just got back from traveling with my two sons, ages 20 months and 3 years. I have traveled with them as infants as well. I take a backpack that serves as my diaper bag/misc, umbrella stroller, and try to line up a porta crib/seat on the other end. You can rent car seats via the car rental agencies for about $8/day extra. If you don't have any friends with kids, the porta crib is something you'll need to send through along with your luggage. It's a pain, but make sure to get help. I often use the curb side check-in for convenience sake. It's really hot in FL at the moment and my boys broke out in lots of heat rash not being used to the humidity and high temps. Good luck!!

Hi C.,
We went to Orlando in March with our daughter who was 8 months old at the time. I would definitly bring your stroller and carseat, makes getting thru the airport easier than carrying the baby the whole time plus diaper bag etc. Plus, then you have the carseat for the rental car or cab. We brought her stroller/carseat combo but didn't purchase an extra ticket so she sat on my lap. A 3 month old may be a little easier to travel with because they will probably eat and sleep most of the plane ride. I am sure your pediatrician told you to feed the baby on take off and landing to equalize their ears. Call the hotel, they should have a pack-n-play you can reserve that the baby can sleep in. Disneyworld has these great fast pass tickets so you can come back to the ride at a certain time and not wait in the normal line. They also have a stroller pass that you can ask at each ride so a few people can ride, then come back, and you get to ride while someone else watches the baby and they let you bring 2-3 people with you so some get to ride twice without waiting in the long line. Hope that helps. Have a great trip. L.

I went to chicago with a 5 month old, the airlines are very nice and hlepful I had his car seat and stoller took checked them at the gate so it was very easy. I also checked my port a crib (they treat it a lot like golf clubs) If your hotel has a crib i would use it and bring your own sheets, the hotels I was at didn't have crib sheets. Find out before you go and what size of crib they provide (port a crib or normal). I also made sure my baby was nursing at take off and landing, he didn't fuss at all so I think it worked.

It seems like a hassle but take your car seat and stroller. You will be grateful once you get there. All hotels have cribs they can put in your room. I recommend bringing your own sheet and anything that your baby is used to having in the crib. They usually don't have bumpers w/ the crib.
Have fun!!

I would not bother to pay for another seat because you or your mom will be holding the baby all the time anyway, but see if you can get the bulk head seats.they usually save them for those traveling with kids and/or those needing more room. The only disadvantage is there is no storage underneath teh seat in front of you so while the plane is taking off/landing you have to store things away from you. I would bring a baby bjorn front carrier if the baby is too little to really sit in those cheap, lightweight strollers. Hotels should have suitable cribs...if not pack n plays work well...but still it is more to have to bring. Definitely, bring lots of instant formula if the baby isn't breatsfeeding. Enfamil mskes those ready made 4oz packets you just add warm water to...they are great. If you are breastfeeding, then you are set. And doing it while taking off and landing is best for baby's ears. At 3 months, they still sleep a lot thankfully. And most important al babies cry so don't feel bad if he/she does and other travelers have problems with it. have a safe trip
