If at all possible, stay on the property. You won't have to drive the entire time you are there. The shuttles and trams are such a nice convenience. And the value properties are nice enough and all have great pools. We've taken the kids there twice and wouldn't do it any other way. First time we stayed at the Coronado Springs and the second time a value resort - the Pop Life - which is supposed to be the nicest of the values. Have Fun!!!

Stay on property!
You can get some good deals from the disney website . Don't stay at pop century if you can help it though we stayed there last time and did not have a good stay. All star Movies was awesome though.
And you can park your car and just take the bus or train to the parks , and between the parks , and don't forget the park hopper passes so you can go to more than one park a day.

Woohoo, Disney World! When are you going and for how long? Because that could influence where you get your best deals. I agree with Debra, it is SO much easier to stay on the property if possible- too many perks to mention. Plus, it kind of extends the whole "Disney experience" because you never leave. Even my sister (who lives in Florida and has family in Orlando) prefers to stay on property. We've always stayed at Caribbean Beach. If you decide to stay on property, check out www.allears.net for info and reviews. And have fun!

Go to www.vrbo.com & check around. We've rented homes through that website (Vacation Rentals By Owner) numerous times & have always had great luck. You can put in specific locations, bedrooms, $$, etc. & since it's through the owners directly you can also negotiate the price a bit.

We just got back and our 'kids' LOVED it! Probably more now than when they were little, they are 21 and 17!! We took them in 1999, 2002 and 2003 with different families.

We always stay on property and always stay at Old Key West. Not sure of the price difference of other properties, but these are like little condo's with a full kitchen. You can have breakfast before you head to the parks and then go back for nap time. Plus they have a whole kid activity plan at that resort.
