hi moms,
i just moved to south tampa and would like to find a good ped for my two year old and six month old. i've heard good things about the healthpoint ped group in south tampa. there are three doctors, castelvi, baker and pitisci. i wanted to have a consultation before choosing someone but they are booked until november! anyone have experiences, positive or negative, with any of these docs? i like a dr. that is involved but laid back, not too fast to prescribe meds, more of a natural approach.

thanks very much! :)

let your computer do the stats. type in the drs name and it should tell you about them, i go to the new drs office and sit in the waiting room and talk to the patients there before i even make an appointment with the dr. the patients will tell you the pros and cons just a thought ive been doing it for years. good luck J.

We use Dr. Marcy Solomon-Baker and have been happy with her. She appears laid back and confident. I really don't like Dr.s at all, so it takes a lot for me to say they're great. I haven't met one I think is "great" yet, including those in my own family. ;) I'm surprised they can't get you in at least with Dr. Baker right away. She usually does a free consult (no exam, just a meet and greet) early in the mornings on certain days. Maybe you should call back and choose the option for leaving a msg for a Dr. and ask that your message be given to her. ? Also, if you would like to join a play group, try joining the MOMS Club of Palma Ceia or South Tampa. You'll meet many moms that can give their opinions on the peds they use. If you would like me to email you the membership form, just email me direct at ____@____.com or go to the momsclub website. Take care and welcome to Florida!

Hi there,
I think you would be very happy with this group of doctors. Dr. Castelvi has been my son's doctor since he as born. He has seen us through multiple ear infections and a bout with the flue and he is extremely laid back and easy to talk to. He is also concervative in prescribing drugs--if the infection is viral, he will hold off on the antibiotics. My son loves him and my husband and I trust him.You won't go wrong if you go with this group.

Welcome to South Tampa! This is a wonderful, professional and caring pediatric practice here in South Tampa. We have seen two of the three doctors in this practice (Pitisci and Castelvi). Dr. Pitisci would be an ideal match for you. We chose Dr. P because he is laid back, not quick to prescribe meds and has a quiet confidence that is reassuring especially to new parents (like we were). My mom, a medical professional, went on our pediatric interviews and immediately suggested Dr. P as her favorite. After four years in this practice, it seems like family. The staff is very professional, caring and efficient. Best wishes in your search. Again, welcome to town.

On another note, if you want to get involved with some South Tampa playgroups, please feel free to contact the www.momsclub.org and enter your zip code for local chapter contact info. Hope to see you soon!

I dont know anything about those Drs - but I did take my new born to Healthpoint and ended up leaving because I too like a more natual approach and did not want to give my new born a ton of vacs. so early on... I wanted to do it at my own pace. They would not allow that. Just and FYI... If you want a voice in your childs healthcare - talk to them upfront about how much they will allow that. Good Luck
