I will be going to an office in the Carrollwood area or in Tampa... Any recommendations on which group is better? Looking for what every mother wants for their baby, not to be rushed, genuine concern and thorough care and attention. Thanks!!

What can I do next?

I take my 15 month old boy to PHA on Gunn Hwy. We both really love his doctor (Ackley) and the office is nice. Don't know anything about the other...

I take my daughter to the Carrollwood office of Pediatric Healthcare Alliance and love the doctors there. I'm not familiar with Healthpoint at all but I would definitely recommend Pediatric Healthcare.

Our son has been at PHA since he was born - now 26 mo. The main office we visit is the Carrollwood location but we have been to the S. Tampa office. We are satisified with both and like having a second office of the same umbrella available to us. Both offices have evening hours and weekend hours - which also allows for additional options. In the beginning, we tried 3 different dr's at PHA in Carrollwood and ended up finding our fit was with Robin Hauser. Although Dr. Greene and Dr. Yee are both very good, we like Dr. Hauser because what we were looking for in a dr is what you are looking for in a dr. We like having Dr. Yee and Dr. Greene as back-ups since Dr. Hauser's schedule is afternoon/evening. We are ususally able to get in to see Dr. Hauser since our schedule allows for it. But the time when our son just can't wait until the evening we have very good back-ups available in the am. Dr. Hauser is soooo great - we feel like she is a member of our family - and who can say that about their pediatrician anymore?!?!? PS - we were also recommened by a friend. Most of the referrals come by word of mouth, which speaks great volumes about their office. Good luck!

My neighbor and I both had horrifying experiences with PHA, I would go with Health Point over PHA anyday.

We are due in April and decided to go with PHA. I enjoyed the interview process we had with PHA, we met with the office manager and the doctor we chose to go with. You really should take the time to interview the offices. I wish you the best with your new baby and congratulations!!

we take our kids to Health Point. you may need to wait BECAUSE they take their time. I suggest the carrollwood office. Dr. Gomes and Dr. Mendez. WODERFUL. they are caring and have a tremendous amount of patience for crying patients. No new mom freakout is too small and they are open to natural methods. ###-###-####. they also have 2 after hours offices one on MLK and one on Van Dyke.
Good luck & Best wishes.

I take my kids to Dr. Ackley at PHA on Gunn Hwy. The other Drs. there are great too & Reggie the nurse is the best! I have heard good things about the Carrollwood office too. With the birth of my first child, I had planned to take my son to a HealthPoint office because it was really close to home but I was disappointed from the get go because when my son was born, the hospital had to call their office several times to get the pediatrician to come in and do his checkup...I couldn't leave until that was done. Then on subsequent visits to their office, I had to wait about an hour each time. I finally switched to PHA on my neighbors recommendation (I also had a hard time getting Healthpoint to transfer my records) & have been happy ever since!

Jessica B, what kind of bad experiences did you & your friend have at PHA & which office? It would be helpful to have more details.

I realize this question is 2.5 years old now but in case anyone else comes across it and wants a current opinion - here it is. I took my infant son to PHA Carrollwood and although I was pleased initially, I quickly lost confidence. My son was misdiagnosed for three weeks and the correct diagnosis resulted in surgery. They kept changing medications and diets and suggested a test (I was not comofortable with) without explaining what they were looking for and if there were any alternate tests that were less invasive. Eventually we ended up at After Hours Pediatrics on East Lake. The nurse knew the correct diagnosis before the Dr even came in. We were sent to St. Joe's that evening and my son underwent a completely non-invasive test that confirmed his condition. A day later he had surgery. We have never gone back to PHA. Many people have a great experience there....even with the same Dr that we had such a terrible time with. Don't feel bad if you don't love them like so many others seem to.

My kids go to PHA (Gunn Hwy) They see Dr Anton he is great with my kids. Through him I was able to find the free speech programs that my son needed. Ins would not pay and I could not afford the therapy he needed. All the other doc in the office are good also. The nurses and staff is also good. The staff knows all the kids by name. I have been to their Carrolwood and South Tampa office they were also good with the kids. I also like that when you need to take them to another PHA office your primary one will get the records since all their offices are interlinked and communicate with each other.

My kids see Dr. Patel at Pediatric Healthcare Alliance's Carrollwood office. I really like her. I have seen the majority of the doctors that work in that office and I have been satisfied with each one. Of course, there are some I like better than others, but overall it is a great Pediatrician office. I have found the availability of appointments good for sick and well appointments. Hope this helps.

My daughter goes to Pediatric Healthcare Alliance, Lutz office. They are WONDERFUL!!!! My sister goes to the S. Tampa office and is also very pleased. They have always been very accomodating and willing to get us in for same-day appointments. The doctors are very knowledgable and willing to spend as much time as needed to answer any questions you may have (but still manage to run on time) and the front office staff is very pleasant. Their night time and weekend hours are also a big plus!!! I don't know anything about HealthPoint but have absolutely no reservations about recommending PHA. Good luck!!!
