I have recently been to the Blue Valley Rec Center for an open gym play time. The cost was $3 per child. Everyday for one hour they open the gymnastics room for the toddlers to do as they wish. They are able to play on mats, trampolines, swing on the rings,and walk on the balance beams. I thought this was a great idea. I have a 3 1/2 year old boy and also a 1o 1/2 month old boy who loved it!!! I had also heard from a frined they have something like this up North. I was wondering if anyone knows of a place like this in the Shawnee/Overland Park area? Thank you so much for all of your help! Hope everyone has a great week:)!
You should look into the Sylvester Powell Community Center in Mission - I think they do it 2-3 times a week, I don't remember which days. But they have a ton of toys for the kids to play with, and mats to jump on - I've seen it set up, but have never gone. I think it's $2 per child, but I'm really not positive. Sorry I couldn't be more help, but at least now you've got a name! :)
I would love to know about this too! I have a 3 1/2 year old boy and a 19 month old daughter who need to get their energy out! I know Elite Gymnastics and Aquatics on 108th and Pflumm approx. has open gym times on Friday I was thinking about trying. Has anyone been their?
Pinnacle Gymnastics on Martindale has open gym three times a week. It is $5 per child. They also have a mom and tot class during the week. They will begin summer enrollment beginning of May.
My daughter has been there since age 2 and my son has done their boys class off and on since he was 6 (he is 7 1/2). I actually teach 2 of the cheerleading classes at the gym. They will be moving in July to 87th and K7. The owners are very nice!

I didn't know such things existed! So, I am also very interested in this. We're currently enrolled in Gymboree and my daughter does the "free" play... but if I'm always looking for something else to keep her active and entertained! Does anyone know of something in the Prairie Village area?
I know of several other places.
1) Lenexa Community Center off 95th and Pflumm has open gym (called "Gym for Me") for $1/toddler on Mon. and Wed. from 9-11am most weeks. Sometimes they have an event scheduled in the gym. We've been and think it's great.

This program is designed to provide children a non-structured place to run, ride, and play while exercising, making new friends and having fun. 2) The Explorer Room in Matt Ross Community Center (new Overland Park community center). It's FREE and open any time the community center is open. It is unsupervised.
