Seeking Private Swim Lessons in Lenexa Area

My son is almost 10 months old. We're heading to a family vacation in two weeks and I really would like to get him use to the water. I've seen that the city offers a Parent and Tot class, but it isn't until July and I'll love something before then. Our neighborhood has a pool and I didn't know if anyone knew of anyone that offered private baby classes?

What can I do next?

Elite Gymnastics & Aquatics at Pflumm & College area. They are the best! I think their prices are extremely reasonable (about $40 a month) and the classes are small. The pool is indoors and they keep the water nice and warm. The staff is wonderful. I can't say enough nice things about them. We were off for winter but my girls will start up classes again next month.

Elite Aquatics in Lenexa also does a parent and tot class. They are pricier, but the class is smaller than the city offered class and they keep their water significantly warmer. City keeps the water around 72 deg while Elite keeps the water around 80 deg.

I know that some community centers offer swim lessions for babies. I guess you just have to check around. I'm concerned though about putting a baby in lake water. It has lots of bacteria that a babies immune system can't fight off. Like
e-coli and botulism. Even if they are not drinking the water, it can get on their hands and can transfer it when they put fingers in their mouths.

Hi C.,
We go to Elite Gymnastics & Aquatics at 108th & Pflumm. My son is 2 1/2 & has gone there since he was 7 months old on & off. We tried a parks & rec class in between & were disappointed - cold water, teachers not showing up or class being late (try waiting with a 1 yr old - yeah, right!) Anyway, Elite has warm water in an indoor pool & costs about the same as parks & rec. Classes are small & the staff is great. Have fun!
