A., if she is used to a nipple on bottle, they have sippy cups with the silicone nipples on them, walmart has them usually in a bin , they kinda help with transitions, she may not like the hard type sippie cups, have her pick one out too, might work, D. s

Are you giving in and giving her a bottle at home? If she knows you are going to eventually give in, this behavior at home will continue. If you are giving her a bottle, my suggestion would be to take the bottle, have her watch you pour its contents into a sippy cup and then throw the bottle into the trash.

Want her to drink out of a sippy cup when she's home? Get rid of her bottles from your home and her grand mothers home (hid them in the trunk of your car or in the garage where she doesn't go). Then ask your daycare provider what brand of cup she uses and then go and get that same brand from your local discount store. I had to do this with all of mine when they were around that age and I have three very stubborn boys and when they reached toddler age it was like a three ring circus in my house. You may have a week of refusals for the most part, but I can tell you it won't last for very long, if you stick to your guns and don't give into her.

I don't know why, but my daughter does things at daycare that she doesn't do at home either. For them, she easily goes down for a nap and also has been without her nuk for months. For me, it's a struggle with naps and she refuses to even go in her crib without her nuk! My daycare lady says that it's because she's testing my limits at home and knows that she can eventually "pursuade" me to give in. Also, as the other person said, at daycare she copies what the other children do, at home, she does what she wants. I don't have any suggestions as far as the sippy cup goes. I just thought I'd comment that you aren't alone in the daycare department!

Have you tried to just get her to drink from a normal cup at home? Is she still on a bottle at home? I would try the regular plastic cup with a couple of tablespoons of water to start with. If she dumps it, it's just a little bit, so it's easy to clean.

My 2 year old also refused to drink from a sippy, but had been using one at daycare for 4 months with no problems. So one day I just hid the bottles and the storage container they were kept in and had the sippy cups in the same spot. Good Luck!

Hi A., I am a mother of five. A young grandmother of two. (ages 4 & 2). I would suggest you find out what your little ones daycare provider does. I would guess that she doesn't give an option.Sometimes as mothers we don't give our children enough credit.they learn very early what they can get away with. Stick to your guns, remember she won't die of thirst. Do not give in! I found that with our youngest grandson, because his aunties drink from a water bottle he wants to too. So I bought a bottle for him with a flip top to make it easier to drink from.We are all learning together enjoy. B. G.

Nubby brand. They are cheap and similar to a bottle, but they are a sippy cup. They can be found at Wal-Mart, Walgreens, not sure if Target has them but I think so. My daughter transitioned well from a bottle to a sippy with this brand, they have very soft drinking spouts and they are very easy to hold for small hands. Good luck!

some one advised me when my kids used to tip over their cups (including sippy cups) to use coffee mugs with a non-contured bottom. The heavier the better and solid. They get to be a big kid and it won't spill unless pushed off the table. IT might be the right compromise. Just don't fill it up.

We had the same problem with our 1st child. We just removed all of the bottles so it was no longer an issue. She wasn't happy and for about 3 days, she would throw a fit, but then give in. Just don't make a big deal about it and when she throws a fit, walk away and don't give her any attention. This is truly about the power struggle, which you don't have to engage in. By removing the bottles, there wasn't the constant reminder, which was also helpful. Best of luck!

If you haven't I'd say try a cup with a straw, my son prefers those! Also if you have time and dont care about the mess try a "big girl" cup. Its something new and special. My only other idea is for you to drink from a sippy cup also. At daycare she is doing what others do, maybe she just needs that at home to. Good luck :-)

Will she drink from a cup with a straw? They have some spill proof ones at Wal-Mart or Target. Also, we use the cups with lids that you can take home from restaurants. My daughter is one and loves to drink from a straw.
