Hi All,

Oh, I am having a day. All 3 of my kids are sick. I have been dealing with vomit and worse all day! This sucks...I have got the pedialite and the soup and crackers and the carpet cleaner and the Lysol and the upholstery cleaner...sadly my bed, the hall carpet and the bottom bunk in the boys' room have all been hit and need thorough cleaning...ahhh!

What else can I do? My kids are 7, 5, and almost 3...and for the youngest two this is the first time with puking, it's so sad and hard to watch...I do not have a lot of experience in this area...any help is appreciated!

I am so exhausted...I wish the kids' Daddy were here to help...

What can I do next?

Use one part vinegar one part water solution to clean the puke smell.

No fluids for at least 30min after vomiting. If vomiting is severe enough, use only room temperature fluids and administer 1 Tbsp of fluid at a time. If they can hold 1 Tbsp for 15 min, then they can have another. **This is the more drastic approach for the severe puker when you are worried about dehydration**

It wil lget better. I had this 2 weeks ago. One of my older girls got sick on a Tuesday night, home from school Wed and sent home Friday. My son got sick that Friday night and was sick that Sat. Then that Sunday morning my little one got sick (almost 3 yrs old) about 7:00. 7:45 my last girl got sick. Sunday was just awful. The worst part is that a little one does not understand what is going on and cries, no luck running her to the bathroom. Dad was at work that Sunday so I spent the day myself cleaning it all up. I got sick the following Tuesday and septn the day in bed. Do your best and throw the rest by the washer. It will get better.

All I can really say is I am sorry :( We went through this last week in our home thankfully Daddy was home so I could rest on Saturday because I had it too. My oldest got hit with everything Wed afternoon stomach bug, sore throat, and nasty cold and my 3 yr old and I came down with it Friday night. He is actually really really good about knowing when he is going to vomit and getting to the bathroom in time. I keep a bucket next to their beds when they are sick just in case they can't get up and out of the bed in time it helps keep the mess smaller (won't help you much now but its good for the next time) We don't have any carpets in the house but I wonder if an enzyme cleaner like the kind you use for urine would help I am sure the vinegar suggestion will work wonders too we used vinegar to get rid of skunk smell during the summer. I hope they all feel better soon.

Just keep doing what you are doing, keep them comfortable and remember it will take some time, but they will be better soon.

I don't know how to get you this product quickly.... but if you want to try it and can't for this round maybe you could get some and use it as a preventative. We use Lauricidin to prevent the flu and I think it helps even if you already have it. http://www.lauricidin.com/tech_data.asp

It's a derivative of coconut and it not only stops the flu from replicating but it's good for the digestive tract and for women it helps keep candida down. We've used it as a preventative and haven't had the flu in six years.

Pepto Bismol and also Activated Charcoal (you can buy capsules at the health food store) both absorb toxins in the digestive tract. But you'd have to check on what can be used with what age.

I hope this passes quickly for you. Blessings, Ali

My kids have learned to always keep a "barf bowl" next to them while they're sick.
