Ok, a little about me... I am a 35 year old stay at home mom, married for 4 years and have an almost 3 yr old son and a 10 yr old step daughter. My husband and I were NOT planning on having anymore children, we are happy with the family we have and we both decided we were finished... I was planning on finding a job in September and putting my son in daycare. Also my husbands job is at the brink of ending, they are laying everyone off and might be closing there doors (argh) well.. my period is due but my breast started hurting really bad last week and I just happen to have a pregnacy test under the sink. I took the test and It says I am pregnant! Has anyone had a pregnancy test come out positive and then it was really negative??? I also have no idea how to break the news to my husband, please help!! I know he is going to be upset. I'm happy to have another baby but it's just bad timing with my husband most likely being laid off in the next month and also I don't have health insurance (my husband and kids do) What do I do??

So What Happened?

Hi all, I know this is late but I wanted to thank all of you Moms for your support. It was very tough telling my husband the news and now 12 weeks later he is still not for having another child but he is dealing with it. Things are very stressful right now but I hope and pray everyday that things will come together. My husband did lose his job 2 days after I told him. I applied for medicaid and food stamps and we were denied because my husbands unemployment is 140.00 over the limit! I've had no prenatal care (but I'm taking my prenatal vitamins) and I'm 18 weeks pregnant. All of the clinics I have went to need me to be referred by a doctor (especially because I am considered a high risk pregnancy) and of course I don't have a doctor, lol aahhh who said life was always easy. Hopefully I can work this out in the near future. I'll keep you all posted. Thanks again for the support.

Isn't this the story of our lives! First find out from your doctor the real deal. Usually home tests are negative first then really end up positive not the other way around.
Concerning the financial factor. Consider family support. Termination should be the laaaaaaaaaaaaast resort. There are also Social Assistance avenues to consider. A new baby would be so nice for your son...but talk to the father first just tell him the truth and last do consider really effective contraception if more babies are definately OUT!

C. ... first relax!! Second ... go to the store and get another pregnancy test. You say you 'just happened to have a kit under the sink' implies that it's old and maybe not so accurate. Third ... after taking the test, speak to your husband immediately. Although economically it's not a great time, you need to be honest with him. If you are in fact pregnant, the more time you take to prepare the better ... ask around for people who have whatever you no longer have.

Good luck & hold those ones you love close.

Get your butt to a Medicaid office and sign up ASAP. This baby is a blessing from God. You will make it through this and come out stronger. Think positive thoughts. Consider babysitting other kids in the neighborhood while their parents work and you stay home with your son. Stash all the cash away for a rainy day. Prepare, prepare, prepare. If you did not save any baby items from your son, put up ads on freecycle or craigslist. Save every penny. I will be praying for you!

C., if in fact you are pregnant, congratulations!! If you don't have health insurance, you can definitely apply for family health plus and get FREE prenatal assistance and health care--it is NOT medicaid, although medicaid covers the cost of prescriptions. And your baby is automatically enrolled prior to birth and covered for the first year of life. Please communicate with your husband and be strong--look into all of your available resources and let him know that even though financially it isn't the best time, you need his support more than anything. Plus your son will have a beautiful sibling to grow up with and play with. Hang in there and try to relax a little. God bless.

Hi C.,

Well, I wish you the best of luck with everything. As for a pregnancy test giving you a positive reading when not pregnant doesn't happen. You can get a negative when pregnant, but if that little test says your pregnant, then you are. Once again, I wish you the best of luck & hope everything works out the best way possible!

Hi C.,

Everything happens for a reason. It is pretty sad to think that telling your HUSBAND that you are pregnant, when so many couples can't have children. Life is not always meant to be easy. I hope you both find strength in this and be happy that you are all together and hold on to that. Good Luck! :)
