Odd Rash on Nipple
I have a question about a rash my 2 year old son has developed. He has had a few read patches (on his thighs, elbows, and cheeks) that I thought were eczema (I have had it since I was little and those symptoms are the same). However, last week I noticed his right nipple was red and scaly looking, and appears somewhat raised (enflamed I am assuming). It looks similar to eczema, but freaked me out since it's on his nipple. I am trying to not be super worried and call the pediatrician, but I was wondering if anyone else has seen this with their kids? I've tried using several topical ointments, but it's still there. And I haven't changed detergent, so I know it's not that. Any feedback would be appreciated!!

Hello L.,
This could be a form of eczema or psoriasis. My 11 year old son was suffing from this and I've tried everything. I switched laundry detergant and lotion and the symptons went away. I switched stores and started using more healthier, safer products. This store is called Melaleuca. It's a Wellness company and the products are awesome. Take a moment and look at their website and see for yourself. The website is www.melaleuca.com. If your interested in becoming a customer please leave your contact information on my ____@____.com/P.. I look forward to talking to you soon.

Sounds like you have thrush. It's a yeast infection. If it is thrush, you'll probably need an antibiotic to clear it up. Check with your OB or his pediatrician!

Well first you should take him to a doctor and get their medical opinion. Second and I`m not trying to sell you anything at all just letting you know I work with a group of mom`s who buy our own non-toxic chemicals for our home and for our family! Even though you haven`t changed your laundry soup it still has harsh chemicals in it that is causing irritation to his affected area. There is also a lotion that has cleared up so many of our mom`s eczema problems...I was amazed when it cleared up my god daughters eczema after all the prescription medicated lotions her doctor keep giving her keep failing.I know this sounds like a pitch, but I find it so hard not to inform other mom`s who are having problems that I know these products will help! I hope you son`s rash gets better. And if by chance you are curious or even interested in replacing those toxic products in your home I have a business listing here in Mamasource called Motivated Mom w/ 3Teens. Have a great day and again I hope your son gets better soon cuz I know he is not a happy camper rite now.

My kids have eczema which seems to get worse in the summer months with the warmer weather. They haven't had it on their nipples, but I find I need to keep them fairly cool, and after their bath I use a non-alcohol lotion. Good luck.

Hello, my 2 1/2 boy has the same thing. To me it looks like eczema because it's just dry patches. I started putting on a lotion with Green Tea on it and it has really gone down. But if the places start to look like little warts or pimples then he might have Molluscum. This is very common in children under 5 yr. But there is nothing you can do about it, it's like a skin virus that the body will take care of itself. My now 5yr son had it from the time he was 3 until just this past winter. If you want to know more about the lotion I use just email me and I can look up the website for you to order some. ____@____.com

Raised, red, scaly... are they little circles? If so, it could be ringworm. The same cream as is used for athletes foot will clear it up, but it'll take some time. (Also, don't freak out if it is, my ped. assured us it is pretty commom in little kids.)
Good luck, Stephani
