My husband and I would like to have a blessing ceremony for our daughter. We have been wanting to have one for some time, but just can't seem to find the right person to perform the ceremony. We would prefer a non-denominational ceremony on the beach that is intimate, special and spiritual. Does anyone have any suggestions?

What can I do next?

We had my daughter's baptism at Wayfarer's Chapel (aka the glass chapel) in Rancho Palos Verdes. It is QUITE a drive but truly one of the most beautiful locations in California. The service was nondenominational and welcomed my daughter as a child of God. We met with the pastor before the ceremony and he explained their beliefs that children are not born in sin and that the ceremony is about welcoming and celebrating the child as one of God's.

The pictures on the site don't even do it justice. I know you mentioned wanting to have your ceremony on the beach but this chapel does overlook the water. If nothing more, you, your hubby and daughters should take a road trip one day to see it in person. It really is amazing.

Why not preform it yourselves? That way you could have it exactly how you would like it, with everyone preforming a role.

Hi S.-

Reverand Richleigh Powers performed our wedding ceremony and he is non-denominational. He did a wonderful job and all our guests were happy as well. He is located in Leucadia but he travels to whereever. He actually performed my sister's wedding in Orange County. His website is http://www.revpowers.com/.

Good luck and enjoy your little girls!!

East Valley Christian Fellowship offers "baptism" ceremonies a couple times a year; one of which is performed at the beach. The "baptism" isn't the typical baptism as compared to denominational baptismal ceremonies; it's actually a dedication for the babies wherein the baby is blessed & the parents/family dedicate the baby to God & offer to raise the child to know God. You can view their website at www.evcf.com and/or contact Pastor Jack Forness for additional information, and to discuss a P. ceremony - it's a wonderful non-denominational church based right off I-8 at Lake Jennings Blvd.. Good Luck!!!
