"Non-crafty" Mom Needs Wedding Help!

HI Moms! My fiance and I just got back from Laughlin last night and are planning to get married there probably on 10/10. We are both commission only business owners and have taken a beating in this economy. We are not starving by any means, but have had to really cut back and watch our pennies. That being said, I'm considering making my own wedding invitations. I found a free one online that I can print off (8.5 x 11 folded in half) and it suggests getting craft paper and printing your wording on it and using some kind of edger thing to tear it, etc. I have no idea how to do any of this!!!! I don't want to waste a bunch of money buying different things to try out. I'm hoping to find a "crafty" local mom that can spend some time with me and maybe give me some ideas. If anyone knows anyone that makes those home-made cards or anything, I would appreciate some tips! P.S. I LOVE daisies and would like them in the wedding and possibly the invites and favors...any ideas for that would be appreciated also! :)

What can I do next?

So What Happened?™

Thanks moms! It looks like Michaels it is! I will go this weekend and check it out! Thanks everyone for your help and wish me luck!

Hi,

At Office Max, Staples, Michael's, JoAnn's, etc. they have premade, precut invitations. You can get plain white and put your text. Then you can add a bow or a scrapbooking sticker for personal touch. Or I'd find a picture/clip art you like and print it right on your invitations. You can also add a piece of tissue to make it nice.

There are sooo many things you can do. If you go into Michael's or JoAnn's someone in there can help you. I attached some links to give you ideas.

Congrats, F.! If you are looking to save $ go to Michaels craft store. They have a wedding section and print at home invitations. Last time I was there they even had a design with daisies :) I used print at home invites for my wedding and also for my mother's when she remarried. They are super easy! I believe they come in boxes of 50 & price depends on style. Anyway. Check it out for sure. Michaels also has lots of cheaper ideas for all things wedding... it's definitely worth a look! Good luck!

My daughter used Mad Scrappers to help her make her own personal wedding invitations. They are in Cave Creek, unfortunately, but I think you could do in in one trip. They will even address the envelopes for you if you give them your list in Excel. They are a source of paper and other stuff to make your invitation special for you. They are really busy so if you want to make an appointment it will be a couple of weeks before you can get in. Google Mad Scrappers.

FYI, There is a paper place in mesa Broadway or Southern e/o 101 that has blank invitation packages for purchase at a VERY reasonable price. I used them for my wedding and took a friend there for hers (I designed). There is alot styles to choose from and you can add your message using Word. Save time, Save Money. Sorry I don't have the name. If you cannot locate it, sent me a line and I'll hunt it down. Look under paper in phonebook.

Hi F. and congrats on your upcoming wedding. Just to add on the invitations at Michael's Craft store. Don't forget to use your 40 percent off coupon. They are normally found in your Sundays newspaper or Wednesdays ads. I don't believe they are at the store. This is the route we took with my sister's wedding and my mother's wedding anniversary. It really came out to be inexpensive. Good luck!
