Nipple Help for Soothie Bottles

You ladies have become my fountain of wisdom, so I'm hoping you can help again.

My son was a preemie and spent alot of time in the Special Care Unit at the Hospital. He also had a lot of trouble with the suck/swallow motion, so we were advised to give him a soothie pacifier during his stay in the hospital, which has continued now that he's four months old. That is the only pacifier he will use. Consequently, he will ONLY use Soothie Bottles and the wider nipples that are similar to the Soothie pacifier. I'm having a hard time finding just nipples for stage two and higher (aparently, Soothie doesn't even make nipples higher than stage 2). Any suggestions on other brand nipples that will work with Soothie Bottles?? We have TONS of their bottles, so I'd prefer to stay with this brand. It would appear that Avent nipples are about the same size, but I'm not sure if they would work...also, another website (not nearly as trustworthy as this one) suggested trying Dr. Browns nipples as a good one to try. I don't want to go out and buy nipples from every other brand only to find that they don't work, so I'm hoping you awesome moms can offer some advice.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for your help!

I haven't used the Soothie's because my son wouldn't accept any paci, but I LOVE the Avent bottles and playtex Ventair bottles. I suggest buying just one bottle of Avent and try it out for a week or so. These are super easy to clean so it's not a big hastle. I only have one right now because I'm switching over to Avent. My son has a huge mouth (like mommy's) and the Avent works well with him and they come in a billion sizes. Bottle and nipples.

Hi! I hope your preemie is doing well!
My oldest was born at 28 weeks & he would not accept any pacifier but the soothie. I love the fact that you can buy them at stores now. 8 1/2 years ago you had to go back to the hospital to get more so I didn't dare loose any of them, (back then they didn't have the soothie bottles). My son adapted well to the Avent bottles. It took him a few a few bottles for him to figure out how to latch on to it (after using regualr non wide nipples). I would try the Avent. You only need to buy one (though that can get expensive).
I wouldn't use any other nipples with the bottles that you have as they could leak, make a really big mess & not work as they should. Also, I would never make holes in any nipples as it could cause them to tear & choke your baby.
God bless!

I know most people dont even think about this, But if you contact the company directly(usually with an address on the box, or a phone#) they usually contac tyou back if by phone within 24 hours(unless weekend) or within 7-10 days by mail.
Usually they can tellyou waht they offer- Iknow ifyou look at online websights as sometimes they have things stores do not carry.
I did that with my daughter When she was young. The stores didnt carry the type of bottle I needed for her(this was about 13yrs ago 12-13 years but still,). I went on line found what i needed, and called the comp for a back up suggestion, It worked. I got what i needed, PLUS the company sent me a coupon inthe mail good for 6months for 10.00 off any of their items. good for instore or online.
I hope that helps.
good luck.

Another option is to stick to stage 1... unless there's an issue. I tried the later stage nipples with my first, but went back to stage 1 because she drank too fast. I never used stage 2 at all with my second. (I should note that my kids were breastfed but got bottles at daycare, etc.)
