New to Carpentersville - Seeking Moms/Play Group

Our family has recently relocated to Chicago from Madison, WI. We are completely new to the area and are looking for playgroups, healthcare, babysitting...just a little bit of everything. We have 2 very playful daughters, Olivia - 2 yrs & Madeleine - 8 months. I'm interested to find a playgroup or learn of activity-based centers (local children's museums, libraries, etc.) and an outlet for me. Any help would be much appreciated!

Thanks,
M.

Hi there! I am a new mom - I have a 7 week old - and have recently joined the Cary Moms group that someone mentioned in a previous post. I have not yet been to an event, but am scheduled to go to a couple next week. Maybe I'll see you soon! Welcome to the area!

Hi,

I am in Pingree Grove which looks like it is about 20 minutes from Carpentersville. I would love to be a part of a mom's group. I have a soon to be 7 year old and an almost 16 month old.

We moved to Arkansas just after getting married for two years, then we moved here, to Crystal Lake (to be closer to my family, still in Madison).

The dupage county children's museum is an awesome museum for younger children. I'm not sure exactly where you live but it's in Naperville. I've also heard good things about the children's museum on navy pier though I've never been there. There is also a group called Parents as Teachers which sponsor playgroups for babies and toddlers. They might have a playgroup in your area. There website is http://www.parentsasteachers.org/site/pp.asp?c=ekIRLcMZJx...

Okay, here's the list. I'm in C'ville myself and have been compiling the local groups as I find them...

Elgin Mom's meetup:
http://moms.meetup.com/1098/

Haven't been a member of this one long, but so far they have seemed like a great bunch of women.

Cary Mom's meetup:
http://moms.meetup.com/1183/

This group might be fading away, and hasn't had many of it's own events since many members moved to another site off meetup.com, listed next.

Cary Moms Group:
http://www.carymomsgroup.com/

This group moved off meetup.com a while ago and has been thriving. Lots of great events, and people. They also have activities for dads and playgroups.

Suburban Chicago Mom's meetup:
http://moms.meetup.com/1712/

This is a more generalized group for the northern/northwest suburbs of Chicago. Recently moved when the previous group narrowed down to just one area, this is an active bulletin board online, with some gatherings that move around to different play places throughout the suburbs.

Parents Who Care:
http://parentswhocare.org/

Another group centered around the Hoffman Estates/Schaumburg area, this group offers an awesome Summer Camp and several other activities that make it worth joining. Another great bunch of people. This group is well-organized with a board and budget, and they hold fundraisers and resale events during the year too.

There is also a Mom's Club of Carpentersville group too, although I can't seem to find their link on meetup.com at the moment. I've been in contact with them, but haven't actually met with them yet to join so I can't say much about them.

Feel free to drop me a message if you want more info on any of these. :-)
