New School - Tampa,FL

hi, my 4yr is starting school this school term and is in a private school. already there is conflict with the teacher. i am considering placing her in a different school. she is a very bright little girl. she reads, write, add & subrtact. which the school doesnt think she can do,and had the nerve to tell me so, but will not test her. she has been home schooled since she was 2yrs old.

i am looking for a good private school that will let her advance in her academics. i live in tampa, near temple terrace and brandon. at this time i am a sahm.

please help, quite upset.

What can I do next?

Hi P., Have you looked into the Montessori (sic) schools. They are known to usually let kids learn at THEIR pace. Most other schools have a cirriculum for a broader range that goes from the smart kids to the that may not have learned some things as of yet. Just a suggestion. R.

Hello P. I'm L.

I have a 3rd grader who has been attending Montesorri Prep in Temple Terrace for the past 3 and a half years. This is a very private school but teaches well above the norm. for example: 3rd graders are doing 5th grade level academics. They have other locations also.

School Address:

Hi P.,
I have never responded here before but felt compelled to after reading your plight. I am a Montessori teacher at the Montessori Preparatory in Temple Terrace. I have been working for the same employer for 15 years and up until this year was the lead kindergarten teacher. I am now in first grade. My own child, who is now 11 years old went to Montessori since she was 21 months old and did wonderfully. She is now a year ahead in an IB middle school and still on top. There is no better beginning for your child.
The very basic idea of Mntessori is that each child travels at their own pace regardless of the rest of the students in the class. Your daughter will be assessed and then she will work at her own pace to continue her learning. Of course the class does group activities as well.

You already have the address from the first person who wrote to you.
I hope this helps

Have you checked into a Montessori school? They are usually great for letting kids advance at their own pace.
Good Luck!
