New here...playgroups in Dallas Area?

Hello all. We recently moved here to Dallas and I am interested in meeting other moms with little ones. How early is to early to do playgroups? I have a 10 month old little girl. I think it would be fun, but I really don't know people around here. Any groups out there?

Thanks for your responses. I have found a great meetup group and I also joined a MOPS through a local church. I can't tell you how nice it is to connect and meet other wonderful moms!

Hi L.

I joined a playgroup and my daughter is only 4 months. As long as you can find some group with kids of close ages. I found my group on www.meetup.com. Hope that helps!

Check out www.meetup.com for playgroups in your area. And 10 months is a great age. I started going to groups when my son was only 2 weeks old! It is a great way for you to meet people and for your kid(s) to grow up around friends their age. You could also try a class at something like The Little Gym or Gymboree and meet people that way.

Check out www.meetup.com and you can find all kinds of playgroups and social groups in your area. If you want to email me at ____@____.com I can send you the link the group that I am in. We do all kinds of things and the other moms are really great.

Also-there is a group that meets at Willow Bend Mall every Friday at 10am we meet in the playarea. We walk the mall and visit. Its a nice group of women.

North Dallas Early Childhood PTA is a great group - it for moms of kids under 5. They have playgroups, mom's night out, monthly meetings, morning coffees with kids.... It's a great way to meet mom's in Dallas. You can live anywhere and join, but most mom's live south of 635 north of NW hwy.

L.,
I think 10 months is a great age. I started in a new moms class at my church when Parker was 7 weeks old... we still get together for play group (he's 13 months) and the kids love each other.

There is this moms ministry at my church called Building BLocks. There are all sorts of activities this summer geared for us preschool moms. You should check some of them out. I bet you would find a playgroup out of it. And then there's also an event specifically geared to starting playgroups... check it out. http://www.watermark.org/children/building-blocks/

Try www.momsclub.org, www.dfwareamoms.com, www.mops.org, and your local early childhood PTA group. Also, there are lots of fun classes where you can make good friends such as Kindermusik, ASI baby gymnastics, Little Gym, Gymboree, My Gym, and classes at your local parks and rec. Pick up a free copy of Dallas Child Magazine or North Texas Kids Mag. It has lots of info for you. Good luck!
